| @Dusko Kovacic what happened to you is pretty commonplace. i have stopped counting my abuse reports after a while. but this way they managed to get rid of most users, save me and a handful os4 supporters, who ironically didnt left for a safer harbour like amigans to be entirely protected from evil outside world. as i said, a.org, contrary to awnet which was cursed from the start, has seen better times. today id reccomend eab, or a1k for german speakers.

I concur. A.org and AW.net have turned into virtual ghost towns, especially when compared to Apollo or EAB.

| Well, it's peaceful over at Amiga.org as long as you don't say anything that's the least bit critical of OS4 or PPC processors or the boutique prices charged for A-Eon hardware. I was banned for 5 months at one point for suggesting that x86_64 was the way ahead.

You were right,if Amiga OS development continued on X86_64, today they could have much more users on much cheaper platform. The guys behind AROS choose right way supporting X86_64,386, and 68k. But IMHO, if AROS supports Pi and alternatives native they could become the most used Amiga like OS today

As far as I keep my eye on development of Workbench, AROS running on vampire have the future to prolong Amigas existence. If only more coders were around for it.

Since parts of AROS have been used in several apps and even OS 3.9 and OS 4.x development, it is already most used AmigaOS :-) Portability and open source are great features, but arent all. There is AROS experimental for ARM even an old version for SAM440. EXTERNAL LINK AROS is quite long route from plain OS 3.1 or OS 3.9 in some under the hood aspects, but needs quite a lot work on GUI, drivers and surely more apps. Having AROS on x86 (or AmigaOS) doesnt make a win win situation, as MorphOS will not rule the world day it comes x64. It helps demoing and widens possible market and that is all. Plus introduces "porting all apps to x64" and "support as many as possible drivers on x64" problems. AROS m68k is de facto most used one, as its development benefits all UAE users, Amiga Forever users, Vampire and high end Classic users. ApolloOS, at the other hand, needs "we have FPU" edition :-)

| From Vamp facebook group --------------------------------------------- ApolloOS maintance mode ------------------------------------------------ How many people are aware of the "maintaince mode" of ApolloOS .. I just discovered this last night (wish I had earlier) .. basically its a nice little recovery boot partition that has a menu option to backup/restore your DH0: or personal files ... or apply updates.. anyway I suggest you check it out and make a backup right now! ..Maintenance Mode Instructions : ApolloOS introduces a new functionnality called Maintenance Mode. It's basically a lightweight bootable distribution hidden in DH2 partition which allows user to do several maintenance tasks as : - Backup your system partition - Backup your personal settings - Restore last previous backup - Apply a system distribution upgrade - Launch a filemanager Maintenance Mode can be accessed through 3 ways : 1) In menu, under "Power > Reboot > Maintenance mode" 2) From IPM "upgrade" command 3) Through good old Early-Startup and booting from DH2 Note: booting to Maintenance Mode changes partitions boot priorities. Be sure to use offered "Exit maintenance mode" command to correctly exit this mode. An user resetting the Amiga manually will not reset it correctly.

True. Until next release comes up, making 43 "obsolete". While no one is forced to use ApolloOS, it does bring joy as best AOS starting point :-) Alex asked on facebook how we could help, other then using it? Alex Chaney Yesterday at 1:44am · Austin, TX, United States The ApolloOS creators seem to be anonymous but their work is great for the community, how can we support them to keep the effort going?
