does coffin use the new PFS3AIO v3.0 driver?

No, looks like the regular PFS3AIO but I think the updated version is perhaps still a bit too untested to rely on?

Here is the text I put in the FB Vampire Users group on PFS3AIO..

Just incase folks missed this in the main Amiga group ..

  PFS3AIO v3.0 Test #1 (Based on v19 PFS3)

  EXTERNAL LINK
  - Finally 100% fixes wrong index block (and similar) errors, see below for details. Thanks to Michiel Pelt for helping to find this nasty bug.
  - Fixed two (probably) harmless off-by-one bugs.
  - Compiled with m68k optimized GCC 6 (https://github.com/bebbo/amigaos-cross-toolchain), 17k smaller than previous pfs3aio.
  - Some HD controllers modify MaxTransfer after filesystem has been initialized which was ignored by previous versions.
  - Automatic 0x20000 max transfer limit is only enabled if scsi.device version is v36 or newer and older than v50.
  - Automatically attempt to increase number of buffers if all buffers are in use and more buffers are required.
  - Includes experimental >104G partition support. Shows warning if enabled during formatting.

  Includes all previous pfs3aio features:

  - Full KS 1.x compatibility.
  - 68000+ compatible.
  - TD64, NSD and Direct SCSI supported and autodetected.
  and more...

Souces available from EXTERNAL LINK (and pfsdoctor)
Source tree also includes experimental >4G file size (48 bit file length field) support but it is not enabled in this version. Contact me if you want to test it.

  >104G partition support and >4G file size support requires reformat and on-disk structures are not anymore compatible with old PFS3 or PFSDoctor versions.  EXTERNAL LINK Note: command line only, no GUI like in official pfsdoctor)

Official version will be released in few weeks or so.

  Details:

This version 100% fixes very old (has at least existed since commercial 18.x versions, possibly much longer) bug that causes wrong index block and similar errors when creating lots of new files/dirs quickly. PFSDoctor also reports errors, for example "x reserved blocks not used but allocated".

  Trigger condition:
  - >=5G partition size ("super index" partition mode)
  - Lots of small files created quickly (for example unpacking archive with thousands of small files, for example EmeraldMines_v1.0_CD.lha)

I have an earlier revision of this OS and have over time installed new programs and tweaks.
Now if I download the new version I lose all my favorites. Is there any way to integrate the new into the one I have on my CF card?

there are some bugs on coffin i have discovered - the first being the mount unmount sd icon just crashes or causes instability i fixed this by using the older sd0 driver secondly if you change to a 24bit colour depth workbench takes an age to boot, thirdly the colours on cannonball are all messed up.

I have problems with colors in cannonball too (I had the same problem with ApollOS R43 and core 2.7). In Apollo Os R43 with core 2.5 the colors were Ok

The ApolloOS is just a heavily customised ClassicWB install. As alot of the stuff included is neve rgoing to be used, I dont know why more people don't make their own installs. It's fun, a good way to learn and you only end up with the stuff you need or use.

Looks fantastic!  That's an amazing amount of work that's been put into an OS3.x distro and much appreciated.  I'm hoping that a very litigious company whose name starts with the letter "H" will leave us alone. The Vampire's popularity (and corporate greed) is what I suspect was the motive behind recent law suits leveled against Cloanto and takedown notices sent to several other parties.

I have not tried that particular game yet, but I found that some RTG games do not work properly with all resolutions or bit depths. 16 bit seems to generally work better than 24/32 bit modes. This does not have anything to do with the Vampire/SAGA as such but is probably more a general thing regarding RTG/Picasso.

Martin: yes, that problem with colors you are referring is the one with yellow windows in netsurf and minislug, and is addressable by setting wb at 16bit. Cannonball opens on a new screen. Maybe is a problem about that screenmode, but it's not documented the exact resolution that cannonball uses..

This sounds to me like typical SDL issues on AMIGA.
I think we can recompile the game to use SAGA direct
then it should look always good - and be faster.

Hello, I have rebuild the new Image to micro SD card 32 and 64GB, and also to 2,5" HDD, but got always the issue that the HDD LED short blinking so that it looks like the system will boot, but than stopped. To rebuild I use Win32DiskImager. I download the file second time, but the issue is still there. Apollo Firmware is 2.5Gold. r43 works fine. Thanks in advance !

"Rebuild" such as your custom r43+ ApolloOS or new r48 Coffin?

Coffin readme clearly states it needs core 2.7

Since release 48 of coffin, GOLD2.7 core is required

List of changes since r43 is quite nice

Yes You right, it need GOLD 2.7. I have flashed 2.7 and it works. But I didn´t registered my device so I will get only black and white screen :-( So I have to wait for update of the firmware. I didn´t understand, why only registered device will have full support, so there will be more people with the same issue.....

Register from your b/w world (or 2.5) and update to core 2.7.1 will solve your trouble (see other thread). Mandatory registration was announced since 2.5 release and as mandatory for 2.7 files ... They are public files to download but you see the end result if you did not register.

Its normal ApolloOS / Coffin contents are supporting latest Vampire core, that is the idea.
