What's WB Resolution Works for You the Best?

Hi,
What aspect ratio do you prefer on your Amigas with higher resolution under Vampire RTG? What WB resolutions works best for you and are sufficient?

I am going to setup my Amiga workplace corner, so I am looking for monitor and I am wondering what to choose 5:4 or 16:9 ratio..

I am more biased to 5:4, (that because it is more Amigas mode that all games and programs are made it) and I would like to use 1280x1024.Anyway it's bigger than 1280x720 on 16:9.

I read the Vampire specs and the preffered resolution was 1280x1024 with 50hz refresh. Will 1280x1024 also keep that 50hz refresh?

I prefer 1280x720 @ 60 Hz (16:9). This resolution is a nice compromise and is more than enough for Amiga apps and Web Browsing. And since it is 720P, most monitors upscale well to this resolution and it is compatible with most Capture Cards and up-scalers.

The best one for me is 1440x1080 @ 30Hz, I can it not push it further due to my tv not handling refresh below 30Hz and the clockrate boundary of the Vampire.

I genereated the modeline using umc. Works for both ApolloOS (Devs:modelines.txt) and AmigaOS.

For me 960x540 looks very good on several monitors.
This screen is very crisp looking on FULLHD displays.
The mode matches the AMIGA PAL HIRES PRODUCTIVITY mode that many used to use on their AGA machines.
But its now extended to fully 16:9 screens.

By now, as waiting for V1200 I setup my A1200 to HiGFX mode in 1024x768.

I am using Indivision MK3 and some 24'' Iiyama full-hd
monitor. I got just 030/36mhz card so I am using 16 colors in WB to keep more ChipMem. The image is very crisp and fills the monitor all the way from to to bottom, without any blank space. Very nice looking.

On My Dell U2410 F, I would pick 848x480 over 960x540 (which doesnt scale well on this display) that said using 1280 x 720 is the best for me its perfect on this WUXGA monitor.

Can someone with V1200 check how 1280x1024 works?
How many hz it will get 60, 50?

1280x1024 maximum 40 Hz, my BenQ BL912 1280x1024 (5: 4) doesn't support this low frequency but 1280x720 50Hz looks good on it.

  Thanks
How 1280x720 looks on 5:4 monitor? Is it streched?

It's very good, the font is sharp, the image is well-scaled.

I would like 1920×1080. The bigger workspace, the better. Hopefully in the future we users can choose the resoultion we want. Fingers crossed.

FHD 1920x1080 is possible today (as you can see on FB), but not on common monitors. For 1920x1080 on common monitors we need support for interlaced modes in driver.

The Wiki says that scart/hdmi to hdmi converters can be used,
I got one of these because I was using it for SCART to hdmi, but
the quality wasn't so good and there was latency.

But I don't know exactly how it should be use in that case.

1920x1080@28Hz output from Vampire -> converter -> 1920x1080@60hz -> output ?

I wonder how it would work?

I have the generic Scart/DIGITAL-VIDEO to DIGITAL-VIDEO converters and notice no lag, quality of the RGB could be better though, I did upgrade to a GBS-8200, which also initially had some picture quality issues, but it just needed some copper foil added to the bottom to help shield a bit of traces causing noise. I saw some guide on youtube for that.
Of course this is a solution for RGB only.

For me 1280x720 on vampire is the best compromise between performance and looks.
The whole system still is very responsive and you got some decent amount of screen space to work with.

Digital screens always look best in their native res.
I would find something older and possibly 4:3 if using the machine mostly for games.

Maybe a PC bias but was always a fan of 4:3 ratios for older computers.  Use a DVI 1600x1200 monitor (ancient dell LCD) on my A1200 so anything that divides into that comfortably is what I like to use.  640x480 actually scales well enough on that, etc..  1280x960 is acceptable.
