Amikit is heavily based on lots of patches and lowlevel stuff. Most of it not works with aros roms.

In my opinion, the real problem is that Hyperion and Cloanto are both dubious.
Therefore with the current situation any solution using a product of them does inherited this dubiousity - including Amikit.

Amikit is a nice product but it is not solving the main legal problem.

Don't want to get into an argument about this,  but Amikit do not distribute any files they shouldn't. Any files like this have to be supplied yourself.  Even if you are the opinion that cloanto etc should have the rights, they do

Yes this is my point.
While Amikit is nice looking with nice icons,
does not try to solve the main problem for the user.

The user has the problem to download some illegal kick rom,
or copy some kickrom from his old amiga,
or pay someone for maybe a pirated rom.
As today its not 100% clear if Hyperion or Cloanto have even any legal rights - one could even regard them as being all warez.

Amikit goes the simple route - they leave the problem to the user.
This is no critic to Amikit. Amikit is nice.
But its clear that Coffin tries to solve a problem that Amikit avoids. So you can not even compare them.

This is not an excuse for Coffin to just include them anyway and act all "innocent"

I don't have the impression that Coffin plays innocent.
I have the impression that companies try to benefit from Amiga fans.
And that companies benefiting from this are responsible for all this mess.

In the light of this legal mess - Coffin appears to me like an Amiga fan selfdefence solution.

You can now argue that Robin Hood maybe was morally the good guy.
While legally he was a thief.
But even if he was a thief, I think everyone likes Robin Hood more than Hyperion.

Saying this, our way is not Coffin but Apollo-OS.
Because I think only Apollo-OS as legal new OS can solve this.

Will Hyperion and Cloanto can <censor>. Nothing I own in my V4 is illega. I have a real Amiga 500 with real kickstart 3.1. I simply using that for my V4 but taking the ROM out of my A500 and then poof. I have a legal copy of OS 3.9 and OS 3.5 so AmiKit is taking my OS and patching up from aminet and making it pweaty! So both Hyperion and Cloanto can <censor>

OS3.9 is another subject and does not relate to either cloanto or Hyperion

Does it actually come with a tcpip stack or do you still have to buy something like roadshow at an added cost?

Nope, comes with the demo version, so you’ll have to purchase the full.

So, would it work straight out of the box on top of preinstalled AROS in my V4 or would it kinda replace it (by adding those additional OS files they require)?

Just trying to figure out the use case here.

I must admit I don't fully understand the legal jungle between Cloanto/Hyperion, but I certainly extremely appreciate the full legality of open-source Aros.

From reading the install guide you'll need an a1200 3.1.x rom on the SD Card

(I'm late to the party on this, can someone please explain what Amikit is?

It seems to be an Amiga emulation environment for PCs...

So a port to Vampire would no longer be emulation but just a Workbench distro like ClassicWb or BetterWb (or Coffin)?

Yes its a pre-configured system install , with loads of programs etc  out of the box.  Similar to the chrysalis  pack on MorphoS
