You make it sound like NTSC is not supported.
But NTSC works fine.

Can you elaborate on this some more because your question suggests two possible scenarios that you have?  You have a V2 in an A2000 and this is the machine in question, and not a V4, correct?

The topic of NTSC/PAL is a question of Analog rather than digital video.  The vampire doesn't change anything to your Amiga's RGB to switch it to PAL.  If it was NTSC before, it is NTSC now.

That said, there question of NTSC/PAL comes up because in the TV world, even in the modern digital age, the frame rates are different still.  Thanks partly to the NTSC/PAL legacy.  But AFAIK, this isn't a relevant topic for a computer display.  Only a TV.

So let me answer your question with what information we have about your situation, in the hopes that it helps at least a little.

  1) Native RGB outputs on legacy Amiga's remain as they always did in PAL/NTSC.  The Vampire doesn't change anything there.
2a) Normal computer monitors don't care about PAL/NTSC, they only care that the signal outputted by the Vampire is within it's capability.  Not all monitors are created equal! And price is no indicator!
2b) If you are getting a message on a monitor which says the mode isn't supported AND it is an RTG mode delivered over Digital Video at the back, simply remove that mode from your configuration.  Or better still, use the P96 utility for adjusting the mode with refresh frequencies your monitor can handle.
  3) Yes!  You can make more (resolutions).  So long as you are talking about RTG.  The Picasso installer has such a utility.  Coffin has this installed already.  Computer monitors all have their limitations as to what refresh rates they will support.  The RTG of the Vampire is very flexible and will support a greater variety of resolutions/refresh rates, than even the best monitors.  So you can tune your RTG settings to your monitor for the best experience.

  And some questions for you.

  1) "Flicker Flicker" means "Flicker Fixer"?
  2) Multiscan monitor - Isn't that an old analog display?  And it has DIGITAL-VIDEO in?

If your Classic and vdu (monitor, tv) cannot display analog ntsc change them, not vamp

Ntsc analog is avail from early boot menu (hold both mouse buttons on boot or reset).

In the end, you can always blame wicked us standards made to separate market.
If you use rtg DIGITAL-VIDEO with rtg supported sw, it's all good.

Totally off-topic but anyway: NTSC predates PAL which is also why PAL uses a much better colour encoding scheme. They actually learned from what was already there...

thank you all for answers/questions,

my amiga is Amiga 2000 vampire v2, , native is microway flicker fixer to vga multiscan monitor Vampire is hdmi to a 42" LCD tv/monitor (has a vga in also but i use hdmi)

the native non rtg modes all work fine, 15khz is run through the microway to a 31lkhz monitor, works fine, screen mode is just ntsc 720/480 (amiga overscan mode)  what i was referring to is the vampire rtg on hdmi, when i select screen modes, it lists ntsc modes, but only a few compared to the pal modes,  i get good signal clear clean on 800x600 but there are not as many modes as pal, when i choose a PAL mode that is in higher 1280 or something high it says screen mode no supported on my device, (not the vampire) that is why i asked about ntsc modes.

so as Ronnie has so nicely explained, i will play with picasso mode utility. thank you all for the assistance! love this thing!

There is no such thing as PAL or NTSC when it comes to RTG. Do you say "NTSC" when you really mean a 60 Hz mode?

yes , us moronic Americans call anything that is 50hz PAL, so yes 60 hz mode, i figured it out, had to crank up a slider in the prefs to get it to 60hz, now i can see!  thank you all.

I found I had to go into each and every screen mode option and hand tweak it .. i.e. adjust the dot clocks and such for every combination to get things working properly for me as well.
