So I know this is a strange idea but how about a version of coffin thats cut down for use in a expanded CD32 or Amiga 1200? I use a TF330 as my second Amiga system and its great for living room use where as my Vamped 600 lives in the Retro room - i use a basic classic workbench install but i think it could be so much better with Coffin features and tweaked to take advantage of AGA features in place of the RTG stuff. What do you think? and I think this could be even more relevent with Vamp 1200 and TF360 on there way!!!

Coffin is too "heavy",and has some Vampire only components, like SAGA drivers etc. installed.

AkReal could work on 030+fast RAM
  EXTERNAL LINK
Other option is OS 3.1.4+A1200 physical ROM+BestWB
  EXTERNAL LINK

I know this - this is why I said a cut down version for AGA machines?

I imagine that there are many Amiga fans who would love a Ready-to-fly Amiga installation.  All of those cool tweaks, add-ons and software that make the Amiga just that bit better/easier to use complete the experience for me.  But I find it tedious to have to install everything myself all the time.

But beyond the tweaks is the software/games that come with coffin.  I suspect the key challenge is assuring legally, the right to distribute/publish/pre-install that software.  Much of what comes in coffin is freeware/Public Domain/Copyright expired but also abondonware (i.e. software's rights holder is either unknown, vanished, or seemingly has no intent on pursuing commercial interests of the software).  If you can't assure your own right to distribute a piece of software and ALL of its accompanying assets (images, audio etc), someone somewhere might decide to assert a claim which you will have to defend.  And at your own cost, regardless of the merits of their claim.  I suspect this is why we won't really see coffin style offerings, or at least for sale.

If you need proof of this trouble, than look no further than the Amiga OS debacle.  To whom do you owe fees to when distributing OS3?  Hyperion?  Cloanto?  Both?  The mysterious others who claim to have rights on the software within the Amiga OS?  And what about Picasso96?  Bahhhh it is already very tiring.  X-O

But in principle, I like your idea.  And for sure you aren't the first to think about it!

Vamp1200 should run Coffin excellently in A1200 or CD32...
So where is the problem?

there is no problem - just was thinking of a slim line version that could be used on existing Cd32 expanded systems while Team Vampire polish up that V1200 (and make a cd32 adapter hint hint nudge nude lol)

V500 speaks protocol of A500/A100/A2000 computer
V1200 speaks protocol of A1200/CD32/A3000/A4000 ...

So yes the V1200 should very easily run in CD32
