Every development is good.

But in this case we wait for this Ibrowse release around 12 years now, right?
So people might expect some improvements in those 12 years.
Its kind of normal that if there are not that much improvements that
some people might become disappointed.

If you read the Ibrowse then you can see yourself how much work was put into porting Ibrowse to PPC during the last 12 years and how little work was put into improving support for modern HTML standards.

From my point of view IBrowse 2.5 is mostly a port to PPC release and is for 68K users relative disappointing.

But read the changelog yourself and build your own opinion.

No intentions to bash the product. I'd really want to support his development but not necessary the OS4 port. Give me only the 68k version at a decent price and I'll buy it instantly.

I read it, it sure has taken a lot of time to get there, their faq have explanations about why. It is mainly an OS 4 port. Will see how long it will be for a version 3.0.

10. Does IBrowse 2.5 support CSS/DOM and/or HTML5 ?
No CSS, and only limited DOM support. IBrowse 2.5 was only ever meant to bring an OS4 native port, but more fixes and changes have been made since the original plan was made. HTML5/CSS/DOM are still postponed until IBrowse 3.0.

I have no intention to sound offensive...so please forgive me if I did sound rude or offensive in advance...again I ask that you forgive me if you interpreted the next line in an attack, fun, offensive or negative energy:

You sound like a person dying from thirst..crawling ON your stomach in a Sahara desert and willing to drink any liquid to relinquish your thirst FROM dehydration and heat.

You deserve better and your hard earned money should be spend on something better than what they offering you now. You are aware...that the author of ibrowse after 12 years have literally slapped you on the face with this new version of iBrowse. Not even CSS??

Cheese! I mean netsurf renders CSS GREAT....after twelve long years...not even CSS???!! Instead focus on AmigaOS 4.x....then demand money for ...what for the 68k and you willing to hand it to them in hopes they will do something for 68k in the future? Are you willing to wait for another 12 more years?

If you are so willing to spend your money on this...whatever it is they are offering..please donate to netsurf too. At least with this browser we got light years ahead of ibrowse.

Hi Kamelito. I think a lot of people following the progress of iBrowse were already aware that this would be the case, myself included. But this is not the real issue here.

The REAL issue is: why is so much money being charged for a program that is not much better than it's predecessor? If it was 20 Euro's I probably would have bought it, but not at 54,99, especially when the Euro to Australian Dollar conversion rate is so bad here. That's close to AUD $100, including conversion fees etc..

That's way too much for me, especially so, since there has been no guarantee made that people who purchased a license for 2.5 won't have to pay again for version 3.0. In fact, continued 68k development will be based on whether 2.5 sells well or not, so there is still no guarantee that development will even continue.

Charge more, receive less. Charge less, receive more.

Exactly, if I may joke a bit, reason why Jews are good in trade, and Serbs arent.

Ibrowse 3.0, done a bit quicker I hope, will be paid upgrade again. Buying this now makes it less expensive then, but not a free upgrade.

Netsurf will be html5 quite soon and has a clear development plan
  EXTERNAL LINK
  So we contrast these two.

On AW.net news comments people argue
  a) Price is right, even there should be PPC version only
  b) OS4 owners says also price is insane
  c) Some older people argue its same price as 2.4, even less due to inflation
  EXTERNAL LINK
So they must all be a bit right

AAHAHAHAH!!! Soon we will have HTMl5 in Amiga68k :D :D :D!! BWAHAHAHAH!! There should be a netsurfWinUAE and Netsurf68k. Both netsurfwinuae and netsurf68k will work on winuae or real hardware Amiga/Vampire, etc. The only difference between WinUAE's version and 68k's version is that the WinUAE's version will have full Java and HTMl5 enabled. Where as the 68k version is disabled?

Why you ask?

A) Have the port completed for the 68k for one things.
B) Once we get a more powerful Vampire (hopefully the ASIC version), we can delete the 68k version and rename WinUAE to 68k and we can enjoy netsurf with full HTMl5, javascript, css5, etc  ahahaha!!

:D :D :D

No one said that is better to support Ibrowse than Netsurf. As an Amiga fan I'd like to support both. Ibrowse is Amiga specific, fast code, but doesn't cope with newer sites. Netsurf is a port with more modern features but not so Amiga-specific. I suggest a new version of Netsurf on cd as a commercial (if netsurf licence permits that) amiga68k browser, maybe with the help of amiga.net.pl guys. would be awesome. I will buy a Netsurf cd for sure
