Samba In Coffin R53

Hi Guys;

Has anyone been able to get samba shares to mount under coffin r53?  I've had nothing but problems - it won't even discover the computers on my LAN.  I'm using the preinstalled version of samba mounter.

If I boot off my normal workbench install, I can mount them fine with the smbfs command - this doesn't work either in Coffin.

  Any ideas?

  Thanks,

  Dan

yeah I found this too. thought it was just me doing something wrong.
this is with both the purchased roadshow, and OS3.9 genesis IP stacks

my A3K060 with R53 modified to run on it - mainly just relevant drivers for the graphics, network, and USB cards, and running genesis IP stack - runs SMB-Mounter just fine.

i'd forgotten about SMBFS. i'll give it a go when I get 2.11 flashed tonight.

Yeah, I really want to get this going, I love listening to MP3s off my NAS.

Does anyone know if there's MTU or packet fragmentation issues with the SDNet running on the new core and coffin?  I'm also having trouble resolving sites that resolve fine on my home computer - e  EXTERNAL LINK won't resolve  EXTERNAL LINK will.

I don't know about SDnet, i'm running the v2exp.device, however.
flashed to G2.11 core and installed SAGA1.5 last night. SMBFS and SMB-mounter don't just crash out anymore. they don't connect, but they don't lock up.
I'm suspecting I need to build the hosts file in the IP stack to contain what i'm connecting to, rather than just relying on IP address or DNS to resolve.
Remote Desktop is happy with the IP, but needs a local hosts file entry to go by hostname. as for transfer rate, i'm got about 1megabit downloading YAM 2.9, and netsurf did a self update, and that connection was also hovering at about the same speed.

So regarding your resolution problem, i'm using my routers IP as both my gateway and primary DNS.
maybe set your home machine that can connect, as an additional DNS server.
also maybe try the 1.5SAGA update, i'm sure I saw an updated SDnet.device get installed.

I'm wondering if it's an MTU issue.  I'm running through a PPPoE connection, and that limits the MTU to 1492, and by default Miami sets the MTU to 1500.  If I get time this weekend I'm going to run a packet capture on it and see what's going on.  It's odd that it worked fine until recently but I can't pinpoint when it broke down.

smbfs runs fine here on r53

I updated it to 1.183
EXTERNAL LINK

I'll try it this weekend before messing with packet captures.  It won't resolve my DNS resolution issues though.

I ran a wireshark with miami and DHCP seems weird - very quiet.  I switched to Roadshow and it's working fine - stable and fast.

I know i'm a bit late to the party here, but updated v2exp.device to the version out of the SAGADriver.v1.5.lha pack, and am now able to mount shares perfectly with SMBMounter.
Coffin R53 with genesis off the os3.9 install disk. I have bought roadshow, but it seems to work nicely enough.
am copying my system partition to a network share as a backup, and copying a video file from that same network share to a local disk. I recon i'm getting about 100kilobytes a second up and the same down. though it really seems to choke on lots of small files.
looks like i'll have to keep my non-domain fileserver active for the foreseeable, as am not able to authenticate against windows domain server hosted shares.

Does v2exp.device work with the sdnet controllers - the ones that slot into the SD slot?  That's what I'm using.  Everything is working perfectly with Roadshow.  Miami was the problem.

No.. those SDNET/sd slot controllers are sorta deprecated now, the better one to use is the SDnet that connections to the expansion I/O connector which the v2exp.device is for..  SDnet.device is for the old sd card version.
