Could this be a problem for coffin ?.

Generation Amiga isnt a realiable source. Might be a excersise in "legal powers" but so far Hype boys havent seen OS 3.9 sources and you will note Amiga Inc dispute does not mention any rights over OS 3.5/OS 3.9. Rights to develop/distribute/blabla AmigaOS further are SINCE 3.1 only or 4.0.

The way soap opera goes, Amiga History might as well be this EXTERNAL LINK or this even older to that matter EXTERNAL LINK

Having an old webpage online doesn't mean you hold rights.

Some people like to refer to this page as "basis" to understand current situation :

The fact that nobody has pulled a 'Jim Drew' on the Coffin distribution says it all. Nobody cares about or profits from OS 3.5/3.9 any more.

It's dead, Jim.... EXTERNAL LINK

The copyrights haven't expired as I understand it the distribution rights may have expired and no new deal has been done so the software is in limbo.

as far as I know OS 3.5 and 3.9 were a mixture of contributions by 3rd party developers and components done by Haage & Partner. All 3rd party components became free (many of the authors licensed their components to Hyperion later), the H&P parts are still copyrighted. So Hyperion cannot control 3.5 or 3.9 completely.

Hyperion cannot even pay their bills nor deliver any of the OS4 updates that they promised 10+ years ago, so expecting them to control anything, even a dead OS that's over 20 years old is expecting far too much from them.

Regardless of Hyperion, Haage/Partner, CLoanto or maybe even AEON as a future owner. I still think it would be smart to somehow build Coffin in a similar way as e.g. ClassicWB, where the end user provides the AOS 3.9 components that may be subject to the copyright debate.

+1 this

Makes much more sense to me.  Maybe an installer that let's one choose what to install.  Uninstalling roadshow every F*cking time there is a new version of Coffin is getting tedious.

How about being able to start with a base 3.9 and update. Then you could add all the extra's, Games etc. to what ever partition you want?

The problem is that doing this requires creating complex installation scripts. And someone have to do them.

Removing Roadshow  ... that sucker is tenacious about not wanting to leave each time. Also, perhaps I suffer short term memory problems because I keep forgetting how to perform the exorcism each time. LOL
