Oh I know what you are talking about but I think AROS will be that answer, just move to a codebase that we have full control over and not muck about with old closed ancient binaries.. just a whole fresh start, freshly compiled with proper AMMX extensions and tweaked to take advantage of the unique features of the Apollo core.. that's really, I think, the end game.
