Open Tyrian Control Issue

hi there I would like to use my joystic for open tyrian but the only thing that seems to work is the fire button.... any ideas guys and girls?

on both on the older one i can fire but not move and on the newer one i can fire and not move and now my system is totally messed up since updating to coffin :(
ok i have now added the caps and the os is stable but still open tyrians controls are messed up.

can i just run this and use joystick? ok i tried this and it seems to be registering movement twice? isnt there just a version of tyrian that works?

This is strange because with new version I can move left, right etc. and with old I couldn't. I have Logiteh PSX gamepad. What is your controller?

just a standard joystick i can move on the new version but cant fire, on the old version i can fire but can move... fire button works to select in menus so i just dont understand it!!!!

Joy buttons are assigned to keyboard buttons. You can set your own in Options/Key config. Simply select Fire , press Return and then Joy button you want to assign.

your not understanding me i just want to use the fire button to fire but even when i set it to in the config options it dosnt

Run game in window mode. You will see console window. Does it detect you key press?

yes but the ship didnt fire lol crazy i know... anyway i have found a fix for the issue by rolling back to the version before and using joytokey it seems to work ok.... but there is definately something iffy with the joystick input system on this port of tyrian!!!

If it's detected then you should be able to set up this key in Keyboard/Key Config. What happens if you go there press Enter on Fire(on keyboard) and then press your Joy Key? That's how it works for me.
