| Sad. I was hoping some talented group would finally make use of this nice hardware. Did the team thought of sponsoring some coders with hardware?

| Even no Vamp demo was there, its nice to see it is accepted to Amiga category "Entries which require Vampire/Apollo/other FPGA accelerators are accepted for the Wild Compo, and you must provide your own hardware for recording."

| Ya, alot of amazing productions in the Amiga Demo section. AND Spaceballs 64k intro was just sick, with unreal soundtrack and fastpaced graphics to follow.

Saw TBL demo yesterday evening... that thing running on a stock A500 with 1MB Ram blew me away Plus... the editing, music and pacing of the demo were excellent, love it

No, as it is not Amiga to use a FPGA to do the job and the computer to act as an I/O console. By the way, the Eon demo shown at Revision 2019 was impressive and does the show without the need to use expansions.

That's BS, Currently all custom chips and Chip RAM are still being used in a V2 Vampire setup. The only additions/improvements is a fast 68k CPU with modern features, 128MB FastRAM and RTG graphics...

Same could be said for any Zorro or CPU expansion card that would take away some OCS functionality or expand on top of it. Such purism is just for those that never really expanded Amiga or tried something over unexpanded OS 3.1. Its even less for Vamp since it tends to recreate the same family CPU, RTG and even full chipset functionality. 68k CPU, last AOS 3.x standards and banging the chipset and additional software or OS layers is Amiga way.

060/RTG demos? What would be so bad about a demo utilizing 080+AMMX through OCS/ECS + Paula? Then surely the machine would be used as more than just "i/o interface". It would be pretty cool to see what is possible to do with the old chipsets with the power of the Vampire

| Amiga hardware at the previous best; Cyberstorm Mk3 or BlizzardPPC the ram, cpu, storage and storage controller, plus it's PCI bus controller, and associated expensions/graphics cards are all hosted on an accelerator board that you could argue, conceptually and effectively renders the amiga mainboard into a glorified I/O expansion - if you choose to run only the graphics card output. otherwise any RTG capable hardware, graphics or audio wise that redirects or ignores native amiga chipset output, out to other chips with different capabilities would be classed as such? Zorro graphics cards that are more than a framebuffer - capable of their own graphics drawing routines, and AHI supported audio cards? I guess you could even take AHI, with it's CPU based channel mixing routines, even just using paula as a dumb DAC for audio output could even be classed as RTG capable, and not "using" the chipset? the vampire in it's current Gold2.xx revision _is_ a direct CPU replacement, with additional fast ram, (IDE) storage controller, and an RTG capable graphics card. much like the above referenced cyberstorm/blizzard setups were. if you want to display using the original chips and graphics / audio outputs, you can. it still needs/uses the onboard chipram, and has access to the original graphics and audio capabilities of the amiga. It does not remove or replace the amiga chipset in anyway. untill the Gold3.xx revision core when it will incorporate the full AGA chipset into the FPGA. THEN your amiga mainboard will be a power supply and I/O expansion for serial/parallel/floppy/joystick/mouse for the vampire. anyway, that's my thoughts and understanding.

+1 Even with GOLD3/Standalone it will have chipset inside/m68k class non emulated CPU, so its far more "Classic Amiga" then any post CBM system or DraCo/Casablanca. It is in fact, most expanded Amiga concept.

| You are confusing original extra hardware (CPU, RTG, RAM, ...) to extend the Amiga capacity as designed for this computer, with a system hack to take control of it... (like cartridge adapter to run Megadrive games on SNES, ...) As proof, the Vampire 4 will be totally autonomous because Apollo Team has reached to redo a full computer, and best. In this way, you can have an "Amiga" by "bitting" a ST or Megadrive... Running demo on Vampire is like runing an different system that never existed. But sure, there is no reason to not do it... Just, it is not Amiga demo.
