On getcoffin.net there is a link to download the latest core.
There is also an archive directory with a Gold3 firmware.

Can anybody state what the main difference is?

Firstly, does the Gold3 firmware work or should I leave my Vampire flashed at 2.15?

Thank you.

A600 supports OCS/ECS chipset out of the box.
Gold 2.X supports SAGA, RTG, OCS and ECS, but not AGA
Gold 3 was an alpha that was made to test functionality of AGA across the DIGITAL-VIDEO port along with RTG and SAGA, but no longer supports OCS/ECS properly.

If you want to run newer things, you can load 3, but it's still only an alpha and Apollo released it as more of a proof-of-concept then a final release. It was also released prior to 2.12 or 2.13 I believe.

2.15 RC is the latest core release, as it was released February of this year.  IF you want all the functionality of your 600 (and not the later systems), stick with this core.

Thanks Jeremy, I'll leave the firmware at Gold 2.15. Like the old expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I have noticed that demos like "Global Trash" and "State Of The Art" seem to be running a lot better, but another user did find (and I verified) the Amiga-ported game "Nightlong" (in the CoffinOS's RTG games folder) locks up right at the beginning when trying to enter the building, so there is still some weirdness, but overall it seems to be pretty stable.
