I'm not sure why they have done this, but I expect it is to completely debug the AGA side first. I mean they already know the RTG side works.

I thought the reason RTG isn't present in Gold 3.0 was due to space restrictions in the FPGA.

It's due to testing only AGA. I think there may be some limitations when the full core is released on V2, but I don't know what.

On the V4 at least it will be fully implemented.

IMHO all modules are no Lego, You can't just add or remove some part from core. Think about core updates. Apollo is small team. Every core update must be done in every different core (AGA,RTG,FPU). Who have time for this?
And probably there is no working "bridge" between SAGA and RTG, so, team gives ppl SAGA for tests and some fun.
Take as is, stop grumble and have fun :)
And, of course, leave bug reports!

For some of us Core 2xx is not a good solution. I have a Amiga 1000 with OCS. So i have just 0,5 mb chipram

Natural limit of such an old model. Use core3.

In my eyes, one should be grateful v2 had so many revisions
and upgrades - 9 silver cores and 8 public gold cores for now, with 2.12 expected and gold3 in beta. That would be about 20 upgrades with gold3 alpha and final.

Are there any Option to try with an tool ?
I´ve testet some games. Some won´t work which worked with 2.x, others are too fast and some are to slow.
Example
Team Suzuki - doesn´t work anymore.
Platoon - runs too fast, unplayable
Robocop - some sort of slowmotion

Beyond VControl and MiniBench, not really. Core is as in its present incarnation.

Note that >VControl TURTLE  Change the Turtle mode. 0=Off, 1=On
should make Vamp to "slow down" to A1200 stock speed. Until told to off.

Most of Amiga tricks and patches for some games and apps, enabling them to work on 040Int/040FPU (if existing on Aminet) often helps to make it work on Vampire.

As with 030+ WHDLoad slaves are recommended for A500/A600 titles, and there are few options there that can increase compatibility. No Amiga model has 100% Amiga compatibility. But more bugs are discovered, its more likely next core update will be more compatible. Adding new feats (sometimes even removing some to liberate limited space) creates some incompatibilities. So far it does not affect OS, just some apps and games.

List of compatibile software should be submited here

But havent been updated in ages
And needs an AGA section now :-)

Is there any way to get a higher res? Maybe in the future? And there are only 256 colors, is that all? I´m using Apollo Core Alpha V3.0 with Coffin OS v53 AGA and DIGITAL-VIDEO Audio out is working and I can play AGA Games but compared to 2.11 the Workbench looks terrible. Too small desktop & less colors than before...is it possible have more than 256 colors?

With 2.11 I can use Igame to choose Games with 3.0 it doesn´t start. Any Idea?

Well it's currently an AGA only core, no RTG on this alpha release core. so you're limited to the capabilities of AGA, but hey you're not stuck on some 16 color or less with OCS/ECS.

In the Gold 3.0 Alpha .zip, there is femu.040 file. Do I need to run this file to use Gold 3.0 fully? (V600v2).

Thanks!

Hello people, my Altera USB has just arrived.
I have a A600 V2 with Core 2.11 installed.
I would like to flash it with Core3.
If that will not meet my expectations, can I revert back to Core 2.11?
Thanks.

Core3 alpha has not been updated in over a year since its initial release. It has none of the updates/fixes/improvements the V4 SA core has.. its not really intended for primary use at this time.

I wouldn't expect one for a while. Focus is on V4SA right now and resolving issues in that core. Since that core will be the basis for the Core 3 for V2's they really need to get the V4 one farther along and matured first.

My wild guess is maybe sometime mid 2020 ? Depends on how much time they need to get V4 matured and how much work they have to put into core development for the V2 1200 board once they start shipping those.

why not just release an updated beta using what they have from the V4SA now? its gotta be more usable than the old out of date alpha!

Two different FPGAs with different size restrictions. Pinout, memory contoller and I/Os are likely vastly different. It's not just a thing you can copy and paste over.

It is and it isnt - copy and paste is a vast over simplfication, backport would be a better term but you make it sound like a long and difficult task! its doable and relatively easily at that seeing as the people that would do the backporting are the same people that created both Vampires and both code bases. I mean its getting frustrating waiting now to be honest and I dont know if you saw the the V1200 thread but people are actually getting sick and time isnt on there side! I always knew once the vampire 4 came out the Vampire 2 people would be discarded and its unfair because not every body wants, needs or in my case can afford a V4 so why is it such an ask to get Gold Core 3 on the V2? and no I dont mean the drastically out of date alpha that didnt support RTG (one of the most useful features I might add) If it is that the team no longer want to continue development of the V2 why not open source the Code and let some of the community have a go at it?
