Strange that this is happening on what appears to be random cards. Mine is fine with both Gold 2.11 and OS 3.1.4 flashed. Though I do have a 200W Goliath power supply if that would maybe make a difference?

I have a Vampire 500 V2.1 thats about a month old.

Same problem here with my A500: with core 2.11 often I have no video output.

Installed yesterday, powered five times: three fail, 2 fine.
When I'm able to boot to Coffin everything seems fine, but surely there's some issue with core 2.11 for V500

I have flashed the 2.11 V500 core with a USB Blaster and unfortunately I could not get this core to boot.

However, I persevered as I knew 2.11 worked for some people.  I have a BooBip 2MB RAM expansion in my Rev 5 A500 with a 1MB Agnus.  If I remove and disable the Gary daughter-board that comes with this expansion, the Amiga boots up without issue (unfortunately with only 512K chip).

The V2.10 core does not have this issue with the RAM expansion. I am hoping this might shine some light on a potential compatibility issue for the Vampire team.

If there is any testing I can do please let me know.  This isn't a complaint just some hopefully useful feedback to the team.

Eventually this RAM expansion will be removed once the GOLD3 core is released, as the Chip RAM will migrate to the Vampire.

Interesting, I only have 512KB chipram and it works fine, so it could be related.

On my no-GOLD2.11 A500, 512K chip and a EVGA 550G2 ATX power supply.

Right so probably not a chipram issue, my A500 is revision 6A.

Edit: its a long shot but have you tried disconnecting the gotek drive?
I have a CF card and normal FDD, and the ethernet module connected at the moment.

Thank you for the suggestion!  Removing the Gotek didn't help, but as I'm inside there disconnecting things, I noticed my A501 card that I haven't thought about in a while.  I took that out, and 2.11 started right up!

So, that's interesting!  Can anyone recommend a good NTP client?

I wonder if its due to incompatibility with memory expansions. I'm sure most A600's will have an extra 1MB in them.
Might be an idea for anyone having issues to remove memory expansions and see if it boots.

Works well with Kick 3.1.4 patched into it. Thank you very very much for this. :)

Yes. Boots after removing trapdoor memory from A500 (rev 6a). Before that just in case I put machines old 512k-Gary back. Memory is SupraRAM 500. Before memory removal jsut yellow screen.

Installed, runs great. A noticeable speed-up in Lightwave renders.

Whew! I held my breath and installed the EXE of 2.11 on my 500 because I rely on a 512K belly expansion with RTC and a 1MB Agnus mod, and I'm happy to report everything is working perfectly without a hiccup. I, too, can say LightWave renders are quick.

This setup is exactly ideal for my purposes, and 3.x core is not even needed by me. RTG to my Dell 2410 monitor is fantastic, and I can look at the ECS Amiga chipset in two ways. There is an Indivision ECS in my 500 so I can easily switch my Dell monitor between DIGITAL-VIDEO (for the SAGA RTG display) and VGA (for the ECS display), and I also have ECS feeding a lovely old Ikegami CRT broadcast monitor via the Commodore RGB port. Just lovely. The RGB port and parallel port also drive my DCTV (feeding the Ikegami a composite signal), and the DCTV works perfecrly fine with the Vampire. My OS is a heavily customized deal that began as a Coffin release. I'm still working on it.

  Good times!

2.11 is great so far. Will there be a 2.12? Heh.

Sorry meant Agnus not Gary. Answering my own posts. :)

Today I put back 8372A Agnus and hacked so that A500 uses trapdoor memory as chip-memory. This configuration works just fine with gold2.11 .

Will the V500 core be getting a similar treatment in regards to the memory expansion issue?  As I stated in my post, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know.

for what it's worth,
gold2.11 runs fine on my Rev5 500, with mini megachip, and "Issue 3" 512k+clock expansion modded into chipram.

took a few power cycles and two flashes to get it to stick but i'm there.

Are many people running V500's in their 2000? Mine has been rock-solid since the day I bought it, but I read lots of posts about (minor) complications with A500's.

I'm wondering if the bigger PSU and better airflow in the 2000 make the Vamp more stable, or if it's just that most people run their Vamp in an A500 (and it's just me and like three other guys using them in 2000's).

Has anyone swapped their card between machines and noticed a difference is stability?

Either way, happy times!
