Will there be a non-blaster version, or should I go shopping?

Wanted to say a huge thank you to the entire Apollo team that worked hard on this!

Over the course of the last 6 months or so I had been salivating over all those videos demonstrating what Gold 2.7 would be able to do, all the while making the wait even more and more excruciating. Well, patiently waiting has certainly paid off and wanted to thank everyone for their hard work. Actually, when you look back on it all, it hasn't really been all that long a wait. Really really looking forward to trying this out!

EDIT: Well I have updated my A600 to Gold 2.7 and it's absolutely awesome!! Some minor compatibility issues I was having with Gold 2.0/2.5 have been fixed and have tried the FPU version of AmigaAmp and it works great! Haven't had much of a chance to do a lot with it yet but I'm absolutely thrilled with what I've seen so far. THANKS!!

Just wanted to ask: There was no issue with updating my V600 2 to Gold 2.7 and didn't seem to have any issues with the FPGA. Is it still worth soldering 220uF capacitors to C3 and C6 or is it a waste of time? My V600 was from the last batch sent out by Kipper2K half way through last year.

Sean I have Kipper build vamps they both run the core fine and stable. I should note I purchased "Black" Vampires, the extra option kipper was offering where the FPGA was a bit stronger than normal. X12 cores don't always run on my particular cards. Capping wont hurt.

Thanks Manuel for your reply.

I did buy some caps a couple of days ago in readiness for upgrading in the event things didn’t go well. Fortunately things did work out well.

Probably the question I should have asked is: If I decide NOT to add the caps will things continue to go well or is their risk of problems later on? Could damage occur to the FPGA or is that not even possible and a totally ridiculous question to ask? :)

Like you say Manuel, it wouldn’t hurt to add them, but I have a philosophy, if it aint broke don’t touch it. :D

I’m not terribly knowledgeable on FPGA’s and hopefully this discussion will be informative for others as well.

UPDATE

The normal releases are x11 speed = 78 MHz

For people with fixed Caps and fast FPGA here are optional x12 (85 MHz) cores.

For V500:

For V600

Please be so kind and give us feedback here, if you use the x12 core and its running fine for you.

x12 running here, seems to be stable at least with these rtg+fpu demos that was pre-installed on ApolloOS 4.3P.

So, just flashed the new Core with the exe tool for the 500 V2+.
After that I've installed the new SAGA drivers.

Now a few questions:

- I still see the "Gold 2" splash screen, is this correct? On my other Vampire, that has the 2.5 Core I see a splash screen with "Gold 2.5" written.

- the vampiregfx resolutions have 47Hz pre-configured, which resulted in a black screen after reboot. I had to increase those to 49/50Hz. This is just a note.

- My mouse pointer is gone now when using the vampiregfx monitor. How can I get it back?

No it should have a new 2.7 logo, your programming didn't take.

Did you power off the machine after the flashing and power on again?
