Both are in internal testing now and not out yet for us mere mortals yet.

I have also complained on beta team publishings on You Tube, as well as exact core feature list (as they go!) but reality remains the same: they will make us drool, but again there is no better way to see what is coming to ya. What I do get is: 2.7 core - Bugfixes and speedups - Faster memory controller - MMX2 instructions - IDE speedons - Improved FEMU and some FPU instructions in v2 core resulting in overall FPU compatibility of 882 performance - MapROM feature 3 core - AGA on OCS/ECS/anyvamp - Improved Sound Chip - Up to 8MB Chip RAM - Unified AGA/RTG/Audio over DIGITAL-VIDEO - SDCard boot, finally! - Wi-Fi drivers, maybe? v4 Vampire exclusives to come (all past included) - Full blown ApolloFPU - More Cache, higher CPU freq resulting in V2 +20% performance - DIGITAL-VIDEO Amplifier nulling resolution change problems - Fast DDR3 RAM - USB+DB9 on Standalone - Ethernet controller - Dual Kickstart - More space for even more features, incl. full 060 compatibility

Likely you would need to be able to contribute to the core development on some level outside of just running/testing things out. Like writing device drivers or developing AMMX2 software and such. Gaining favour with Gunnar is not a bad start.

On religious Amiga zealotism side> Its like converting to Judaism or Zen. They are and arent looking for new beta testers all the time. Exponation of "conversion to Judaism" Jewish law is generally interpreted as somewhat discouraging proselytizing, and religious gerut is also somewhat discouraged. In the past, rabbis often rejected potential converts three times, and if they remained adamant in their desire to convert, they would then allow them to begin the process. Much like in the other Abrahamic faiths, Jewish law requires the sincerity of a potential convert, but takes it to a much more serious and formal level.

| The problem is, I literally have no spare time to do anyting productive for the team, outside of firing up my Amiga once or twice per week and running a few games. Driver programming is outside of my skill set.

End user also. Well, we have to wait, if they stop adding feats to 2.7 now, it might be out in couple days/weeks, together with new SAGA drivers. It has been too long since 2 GOLD and 2.5 is not officiallz listed, nor desired as stable. If you look at compatibility tests on Vampire Viki zyou will note SILVER cores are in fact revision like 3800 or so ... sO i seems a lot of ironing is behind the curtains. Then v3 must be out before standalone, which means end of this year

| I could live with them dropping mpg decoding as a feature, and adding something else, maybe FPU support (and at that I'm not sure what would be in involved with that of it it would actually benefit the Amiga community), as most software has non fpu adaptations or can be run with soft fpu. Gold 2.5 works brilliantly on my V500, but would not work with my V600, requiring me to get a USB blaster to fix. I don't feel AGA is something the Vampire needs. There should be two gold 3s - one with AGA support and one with SAGA support - if my info is correct it'll have AGA but not SAGA support? (correct me if I'm wrong here). I have to say that I think the Vampire is an amazing product but don't like the idea of having to register to get updates. I realised that was an internal decision made by the team but I feel it's out of place in this community.

You are wrong, but nothing to be ashamed of when info comes from forums and videos.I am ex-A1200 ower, so AGA is neeed >:-) Everyone will have AGA in SAGA chipset since v3 and we need for both games and app library. Benefit is unified outpout via DIGITAL-VIDEO, AGA for ECS owners, new sound chip ... andpossibilities to speedup in time other AGA operations like Picasso96 tests shows (SAga is faster then most gfx cards in 2D(. So its waaay better solution then having just RTG in SAGA (currenent state). Its also needed for standalone, but best part s that zou shouldnt notice the difference except in speed. Hope some game incompatibilities like Lotus will be solved too

SAGA = AGA + RTG + some more Right now the public cores have only included the RTG part of SAGA. There won't be an either-or possibility.

| I see alot of complains and low patience, people bitching for no real reason, and that just annoys me... Can't we all just be happy with what is there? And be patient about what will come? It's starting to get annoying reading some threads in here. Please don't soil...?

You read my mind. What we have right now is a great product and while they are working on making it even greater, if they for some reason stopped all work on it today, it still will not make it any less great. Like they have said countless times, buy it for what you get now and not for what you think it may include in the future. They have not charged anyone any money for the V4 yet, so in my opinion they are not obliged to deliver anything if they cannot for some reason ('why' is irrelevant). If they had charged money for pre-orders, then it would be different.

| Just relax there a lot of stuff you can do using the actual core release, focus on enjoying it. On the other side is better to wait until the the new core is finished, AmigaOS is already quite unstable you don't need more random lockups and resets.

| Does anyone have any idea about the gold 3 release? Not looking for an exact date but are we talking months or even longer than that for example? Thanks

Best cure would be for team to just have "done reports" and kind of NDA (actually no YT videos) for beta testers. It will lessen the hype created, a bit media visibility, but would totally kill expectations based on ability to see there is something average joe user cant have yet.Tony Day wrote:

If you need something to peek your mind to, I ll give a wild guess of march 2018. It takes time to perfect the beat, but it is in the works. Its not necessary for V4 Classic availiability, but is essential to standalone release.
