| Quick guide on how to install/configure Aros for the Vampire with the SAGA GFX Driver - download nightly build (ISO) EXTERNAL LINK - Transfer files to bootable CF make a bootable partition to CF and format it. I used FFS. - Download saga drivers and put "saga.card" into System:boot/amiga drawer http://www.apollo-accelerators.com/#download -Edit s:startup-sequence and change it like this: AROSBootstrap ROM boot/amiga/aros.hunk.gz boot/amiga/saga.card - Reboot and choose your Screen Mode on prefs/screenmode It will be slow as the RTG driver is not optimized.

| im usually using pfs3 form my aros partitions on cf cards. to speed up graphics somewhat you can disable decoration in appearance prefs. or simply delete theme.var from env/sys afair. also one can decomporess contributions over the aros partition, which among others should contain aros owb web browser. note that to attempt to run it one should delete the huge ttf donts collection from fonts (dejavu afair) which alone takes 10mb. otherwise on first owb launch font cache wont build within a lifetime.

Will add new links as they get by, currently long list of AROS ports might be more confusing. Thanks for the tips! I suppose once our SAGA RTG driver gets mature, it might also speed up the things, or not?

| is saga rtg driver works well on amiga and is slow on aros, then its aros problem not the driver, i would assume.

The problem is caused by AROS - as the default render code in AROS is terrible. But a GFX driver can fix the problem - be overlaying every AROS routine - so that the AROS default code is never used.

| I am just trying this. I made a bootable CF card from withing my AOS 3.1 install disk, FFS Then i mounted the here linked ISO on my Linux box and copied all files from the ISO to the CF card (my Linux box is configured to be able to mount AFFS r/w). When i boot the CF card, i get message to insert volume ENV into any drive. Seems like the Aros ROM doesn't get loaded from the CF. Canceling the box throws me back to AmigaDOS shell.

| You also need to modify S-S to get Aros ROM loaded from the CF.

Re-read and check steps - Download saga drivers and put "saga.card" into System:boot/amiga drawer http://www.apollo-accelerators.com/#download -Edit s:startup-sequence and change it like this: AROSBootstrap ROM boot/amiga/aros.hunk.gz boot/amiga/saga.card - Reboot and choose your Screen Mode on prefs/screenmode

| adding the AROSBootstrap line at the very top of s:startup-sequence is correct?I'm sorry - i guess its obvious (not for me, though) Does the CF card have to use a name or so?

Of course i read and did the steps. I can't read between lines, though. - I probably do wrong at "create bootable CF" or - "transfer files (from ISO file content i guess) Transfering from mounted ISO file to AFFS formatted makes the executables loose the executable bit. Maybe more goes wrong here. I can't mount a CD ISO on the Amiga, can i? (no CD drive as well). An lha archive to be unpacked instead of an ISO would possibly help.

| Is there any way to do a multi-boot, menu option sort of thing? like, hold 0 to boot from DH0:, 1 to boot from DH1:... I'm guessing a clever script in DH0:s/startup-sequence which then re-ASSIGNs things, but I'm not sufficiently clever to work out how to do that.

You could just disable dh0: as boot device in the early startup menu and then boot from dh1:
