Hi!
I have question: Which (if any) software will be included with v4?
I mainly concern about Amiga OS (Kickstart and Workbench).
But maybe some other soft will be also included...

Thanks! and Best regards! and Good luck!

Amedia Computer France sell the complete FPGA systems (Replay and MiST) with KS/WB 3.1. They also had a licensed WHDLoad in one bundle but that software is now free elsewhere.

I hope drivers/software for USB and networking will be included as standard but we'll have to wait and see.

There are no signs of AROS becoming a viable option yet that I've seen.

It will be interesting to see what the resellers come up with, when Minimig was available there wasn't much effort made that I can remember. It wouldn't cost much to licence some old games and apps, I don't know what the legal situation is with the wealth of "free" software and if it can be included in a retail bundle. I'd like to see a Amikit Vampire Edition included.

Drivers are supplied by Apollo team, as well as core updates.

Nothing CANT be bundled due to copyright, but skilled vendor
could sell you OS 3.1 + install SAGA drivers, OS 3.9 + same, Install ApolloOS and I suppose AmiKit Vampire would go official by that time.

Would love to have AROS 68k installed too, as dual boot.

Including software is a nightmare , so unless told otherwise...expect none , drivers will appear here I'm sure.

Workbench is licensed as is kickstart and unless deals are done...nope.

Expect a bring your own to the party policy.

Well one could buy OS 3.9 license which would essentially make
AmiKit Vampire, ApolloOS or OS 3.9 with Vampire drivers legal.

Its 40e at Vesalia

I've read that rights to OS 3.9 are a mess. H&P's rights granted by Amiga Inc are said to have expired. The CDs are not widely available so I expect there is only a small old stock held by Vesalia. Some rights may have reverted to individual coders. Whilst OS3.1 has been made available on various media including Compact Flash, CD seems to be the only way to obtain 3.9 officially. Is 3.9 official available in any other way e.g. Amiga Forever?

Not that I know. OS 3.1 is much cheaper and easier to obtain, but yet too old school even for I, and even with Vampire drivers

I will buy OS 3.9 CD, if it would provide vendors with legal basis for ApolloOS.

even I didnt find price reasonable for OS 3.5 minor update. Yes, I do own 3.1.,3.5,4.0 Classic,4.1 SAM440, 4.1 Beta and final x1000 ... Even C64 Forever and Amiga Forever DVD video only :-)

My manual says I have even prepaid 4.2 and will be able to download it from Hype boys download area.

So, its about time I complement fun with OS 3.9+AmiKit Vampire or ApolloOS :-)

Which ones? M$ doesnt push individual suits, and Hype boys can kiss my ass, since effectively they do owe me an OS. Use of OS is covered by legal OS 3.9 licence even Hype boys cant touch (or Cloanto).

In user perspective Vampire enables you running almost all apps out of box, unlike MOS or OS4 (except PPC apps). And faster then ever. That is nice experience. I dont count my WinUAE/UAE4ALL/Amiga Forever as real encouters.

Individual app authors of apps included in Apollo could sue individual users, but I dont see how, and mostly they have lost any interest in Amiga market.

Quirky Vampire strategy exploits strange state of Amiga world.

Actually do I install Apollo myself or not is irrelevant, except for non-Amiga experienced retro enthusiasts (when we reach them at all). What is more important is that a lot of sold "new Classics" can flourish some 68k development. Part of it, if not fully Vampire specific will work on all emulators and real 68k machines (or as in femu case, both executables could be included). And Vampire users do deserve some optimized titles for both 080 (yes MMX) and SAGA.

What can we do when license owners say OS4 for 68k Classics is unrealistic target, yet they promise AmiStore and Enhancer for those, likely not for love, but because of bigger target market then OS4. And yet ... hardly delivered as always. "AmigaOS - always in beta since 2004 or so" ...
