Issue With V600/SAGA

Hi Everyone;

I've got a bit of an odd one here.  When I'm running anything really cpu intesive on my V600, my screen will blank intermittantly.  Almost like it's losing video signal.  This is over DIGITAL-VIDEO.  I've tried different DIGITAL-VIDEO cables and have a copper heatsink on the vampire.

Any ideas what's causing this?  At times it's almost unusable, especially when running Fusion.  I don't have this problem on my V500.

Thanks,

Dan

take this post as orientational/experimental.

Try lowering the refresh rate in used resolution, or resolution itself.

I believe info on screenmode/Hz and monitor frequencies would be key here.

I'll give that a shot tomorrow.  Thanks!

  Did it work?

my understanding is that DIGITAL-VIDEO out on Vampire is a bit "wicked" since its home made - not all resolutions work, especially in high refresh rates. Also is dependable on monitor - can VDU display strange Amiga resolutions.

When I say it doesnt work it appears to work but heats the card or does weirdness as in your case.

You can read other DIGITAL-VIDEO related threads such as
  CLICK HERE
Solution is as said, find the highest and best one that does work.
Beside resolution, refresh rate it includes change of 16/24/32-bit pallette too, especially in higher res.

All lower then that will surely do with exceprion of 320x200 that Vamps can display on 640x480 if needed :-).

As I have eye problems, I would like to know which 72Hz 24-bit resolutions work out of box or with little bit of tweaking.

Vamp needs a Wiki tutorial or even included printed manual page, or software scan tool that would help or fix things.

It mostly worked - lik 98% fixed.

I can run Fusion, issue free, even when doing CPU intensive stuff in photoshop.

Still got to tweak some of the modes thought.

An DIGITAL-VIDEO amplifier or what I use is my SCART+ DIGITAL-VIDEO to DIGITAL-VIDEO converter/upscaler seems to fix all my random flickering issues. And it seems to handle odd ball resolutions better than just hitching it to the TV.

I use this, there may be another re-branded version of this that is cheaper.

I am glad about it.

This is how Accell. sales describe the limits:

" RTG Video Driver
The driver supports from 320×240 up to 1920×1080, however, the Pixel Clock of the Vampire is limited, so you will need a TV/monitor that can cope with low refresh rates if you want to use large modes (e.g. for 1080p you'll need to run at 24Hz vertical refresh). All colour depths are available. 8, 15, 16, 24, 32bits."

I picked one of those up at a local surplus store for like $5.00.  Haven't tried it yet.
