Too Many Whdload Games Crash

I should have noticed this sooner but I don't play many games.
An annoying amount of my games crash, but many don't.

I saw Simo's youtube video today demonstrating F18 Interceptor play.
I mentioned mine always crashes but he has the latest as I do of whdload. Others too, can't remember names but Frontier doesn't.

Is this hardware related in other respects to Vampire? I do run OS 3.9
with Amikit for real.

I get as far as the mission selection key in F18 then:
exception "NMI autovector ($7c) at $fado3c8, blah blah.

any ideas?

This is general, non-specific answer and a personal opinion.

I believe included SAGA chipset doesnt yet ONLY waits for implements AGA, but several components "instruction emulation" of e.g. CIA, Blitter, Copper ... isnt perfect, even hardware does exist onboard.

Thus system software works almost perfectly, while games that do bang such hardware can be prone to crashes (as yours) or small corruptions and glitches.

You can check and aid the list of non-working or problematic software
  EXTERNAL LINK
--------------------------------
  Stopgap - software emulations?
  -------------------------------

OS4 and MorphOS used to have severall programs like CIAAgent, NallePuh ... (or Blitter2CPU for faster 68k CPU - function redirections) that used to emulate/patch such stuff (software emulation) but since Vampire has a goal of fully reimplementing and improving chipset, such software would be only temporary stopgap (as e.g. softFPU is to FPU problem).

  --------------
  Better Mus Come
  ----------------

Good news is that, as with Apollo core in every aspect, current situation isn`t carved in stone, and will be only improved in time. Like, by instructions implemented and registers presented, 080 was detected as 040LC and now is detected as 060LC :-)

According to Simo, FA18 should work on Gold2.
You need:
Latest WHDload and slave of the game.
A clean OS3.1 install with VBRmove installed (aminet).

Which Vampire model do you have?
Which AMIGA model/revision do you have?
Do you have any other hardware installed?
Which CORE version do you use 2.0 or 2.5 ?

If you run any of these games?
Are they ok?

Vampire 500 , latest
Amiga 500 version 6
OS vs 3.9
I have the latest slave and whdload
Frontier, Faery tale, Falcon,Xenon run fine

Now all that said, I have been having issues with boot up. Usually takes tow cycles to boot into wb. Sometimes it hangs on the rgb monitor and another reset is needed to go hdmi. My startup sequence is in need of editing.

Also I am using a hdmi to vga cable so I can display on a va monitor. (I like the 4:3 format)

  This does not sound right.

Do you have ANY other hardware installed?

gold 2.0
vampire 500 v2
I have a NEC accusync 71v on rgb port
an older vga dell monitor 17" with a hdmi to vga adaptor coming from vampire.

When I installed Peters icons my boot up was worse.Thomas Richter told me there would be issue. Not sure I commented all of it out but it will take two reboots to go into WB. Sometimes, it halts and only displays on NEC.

Not sure but doesn't that seem like a separate issue with some games crashing?

Please use the following WHDload command, after you have entered the Information Profile of the game (click one time the Icon with left mouse button, then right...) and type in the command line on the right side:"NOAUTOVEC". Thats it for this game.
When it works, you can activate this in the global prefs of Whdload, which is to find under s:Whdload.prefs (something like that) and look for this command and delete the ";" infront of this command. Then it will get acitvated...and works then for all games generally. HAve fun.

Thank you Chris.
That worked straight away, I will play with a few others then edit with global settings.

This is a bug in GOLD 2 it is fixed in later versions and wont require NOAUTOVEC anymore.
