| Hey all, Has anyone had Success Installing a system with the latest Amikit Real 8 Download on a Gold 2 Equipped Vampire? I have been trying with the OS at level 3.9 Base (no BB for simplicity) and having all sorts of crashes and hangs, even with the Workbench set to "Workbench" Rather than Dopus5. I am about comment everything out of startup-sequence and start bringing them back one at a time, but if anyone else has already done this and worked out the secrets to getting it running, please do share 8-) All the hist on Google seem a bit old. i.e.. Pre Apollo Gold. Thanks.

| Try to move everything out of wbstartup, and then run each of them separately if you successfully get it to boot.
Replace ixemul.library with the 040-nofpu version.

It is also reccomended to install up to bb2 i think, but that might not be related to your problems.

You need to patch the AMIGAOS ROMUPDATE file.. but i recon you already have done that.. :)
Also.. be careful what you change in MorpheuZ. Some themes/settings require FPU.

| Hi Aksel, Thanks, Yeah I thought it may be FPU related. I started with 3.9 Base and was going to move to BB2 after I had it working, because I thought that might simplify things. But prehaps I am actually hitting bugs. So I will take the base up to BB2 and apply the Vampire Mods first, then apply the Amikit lzh. Do you think I should choose the 040 CPU option in MorpheuZ? Also. I don't understand what is happening with Picasso in the Amikit environment. Its kinda there and yet not there. The SAGA drivers never show, (nor do uaegfx in when using wine) in Screen mode after install. I tried the MorpheuZ setting for Better system, as well a an install of Picasso over the top after the Amikit. Any ideas there? Thx 8-)

| Have same problem managed to start amikit but very slow and hard to get right screen prefs.
First installed 3.9 than BB1 and BB2 like on this guide

I have only 1 MB chip ram so that have to be some problem , but memory is on the way so have to check after.

| I disabled all the Morpheus stuff.
Mine doesn't resemble Amikit with all the features turned off, mostly wanted it for the add ons.

This word is banned from the Vamp vocabulary. (until further notice) :-)
At the time i was using Gold2.
Tips for installing Amikit Real:
This is from what i remember, for sure I have miss something.
I didn't use the installer, instead I´ve extracted the install file.
-Extract the Amikit Real install file.
- Install your vampirized WB,BB2, drivers, GFX etc
Nice tutorial, no, perfect tutorial EXTERNAL LINK skip Mui installation.
- Make a backup of your \Prefs\Env-Archive\Sys\screenmode.prefs
- Copy all files from Amikit Real over your WB installation
-Restore your screenmode.prefs
-Use this S-S. EXTERNAL LINK - copy the RTG file from \C\Disabled to C: or comment out the Fblit and Ftext entries from the above S-S.
Plug your CF into the VAmp and try it out. Sing Aleluia! (I hope) :-)
It will need some customization
-Do not use 24 bit themes (Afa-os)
- Replace all UAE configurations (AHI, SounDT Datatype, HdtoolBox...)
About Ixmul i didn't replace it (FFplay will not run anyway), but thank you for the tip Aksel, I will check that up.
If I remember anything else i will write them down here.
And remember, you have a Vampire and it is supposed to have fun with it. Take your time and don't rush things. Try to understand why things are not working.

It's all coming back to me very very slowly, I guess its been a very long time since I really got down and dirty with startup-sequences and drivers and things on Amiga 8-) I'll let you guy's know how I get on 8-)

| Is Tukos wb3.9 r38("shown on amiten TV") based on amikit or built from scratch from 3.9? I think classic wb3.9 I just disabled copper but I rebuilt it for vampire.

| I do wonder if its hard/possible for Jan to convert Amikit to AROS..
I have purchased Amikit and donated to him in the past, so I do enjoy it as it is. But if AROS gets some windowsdressing it would be a good thing as the basic setup got room for improvements.

| I mean wether or not its easily accomplished, based on the similarities/differences between AOS3.x and AROS, to convert Amikit to AROS.
The layout and content.I guess users can do it themselves, but given Jans knowledge/expirience in the matter, it could be a nice GUI design to be made available for lazy/inexpirienced endusers like me.

| Amikit is partly based on Aros, to be precise Bernd backported Aros features like Themeing to 3.X a long time ago If you want that use my Aros Vision :-) You cannot convert Amikit completely because it is based on many low level hacks who not work in Aros

| Also like Aros Vision Amikit includes many nice looking but very demanding components. That is no problem when using it in UAE but it would be a problem on Vampire. not all software runs on Aros, much do though. Hacks and patches only partly work. Another problem, 2 amigans 3 views :-). One likes something like Amikit or Aros Vision, another one dislikes it and wants something basic with only few components instlled. Aros Vision and Amikit both use Magellan. I love it because of its power and flexiblity but many do not, mostly without really being able to explain why. It is difficult to meet interest of everyone. In short... Vampire would need something specific At the moment I am updating Aros Vision, then I could work at something for Vampire/Apollo. What desktop do people want? Scalos, Wanderer, Magellan?
