Amiga Outside: Future Case for Vampire

Now its not the matter, since Vampire fits Amiga classics and
Vampire 1200 is on the to do list.

Once Vampire goes standalone, I suppose Vampire board in size would be similar to  FPGA Arcade and will be some standard Mini ITX form factor?

To Amiga likeness, If MiniITX, it could fit excellent Lorianos
  X500EVO - "black and white" modern Amiga500s

White
  EXTERNAL LINK  Black
EXTERNAL LINK    Assembling
EXTERNAL LINK    LED and backlight configurable, can be used with SSD and Slimline DVD-RW/BRW beside SD slot if Vampire gets SATA :-)

Can host miniITX Vampire board if none of devices is used, on SD alone. Provides keyboard and place for ports

If fanciness of an computer presentation appeals you (molding culture, fancy gamers, quality components ...) it might also enable dealers to build various different Vampires based on quality "external components" of case, mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor that can scan needed FPGA "DIGITAL-VIDEO" frequencies.

In trivia, it already had Natami sticker >:-)

Tracer is nice modern day Polish company EXTERNAL LINK
I would recommend them and Loriano to design some Vampire Amigesque
one-in-all case and Vampire mouse and speakers (No joke, I have tracer 2.1 wooden speakers and they are good).

Surely, its cheaper to buy board alone and many people will build systems of their own liking, but then again next Vampire presentations could be more appealing
then open A500 (A1200 coming up next) to wider fancy shmancy retro gamers audience and could surpass the standard PC system in quality of input/outpout that also matters to end user (such as quality case, click keyboard, wooden speakers etc.)

Throw in Two Competitions Pro and you got a perfect retro gaming system :-)

Does not have to be Loriano and Tracer, but cooperation with
someone cooperative in Amigaland might bringht some AMIGA LOOK for standalone while AMIGA FEEL is already Vampirized.

I think it would be a nice if the standalone could be fitted in an A1200 case. Especially since these are currently available.
I agree though that the board should be a standard form factor.
Not sure how that would work with the cutouts in the back of the machine though.

LORIANOs x500 and x500 EVO (Cherry Keyboard)

Both x500 case and x500 Case Evo is sadly currently anavaliable. It has nice has also the look and feel + customizable drive LEDs and backlights, even its quite expensive. Would be a high-end case if Loriano has interest in producing next batch. Previous Kickstarter was a success.
    EXTERNAL LINK
KS prices for full case exist with and without keyboard were starting from 200GBP 395 GBP for full evo version with Ducky Zero Cherry keyboard and Amiga keys engravement, SATA drive etc. Almost everything but the board, monitor and SSD if needed (Vampire can do with SD).

Cherry Keyboard with Amiga keys and selling fees and VAT is 300e euros  EXTERNAL LINK
x500EVO is essentialy x500 case and that keyboard.

  -----------
  A1200 CASE
  --------------------
For A1200 miniITX case allged case exists as concept, not on sale
      EXTERNAL LINK
In fundraiser started at 64e, but reached just
      7% of ˆ90,000 fixed goal
      https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/amiga-case-the-ultimate-retro-style-computer-case#/

Seems it has Amiga Inc "blessing" and even as past A1200 user,
I find Lorianos A500 or that other cute big Amiga style, more appealing as single Amiga, not representing any certain model, but being "inspired by".

Generation Amiga report also strange a500 replica

    a3000 replica

No. Thinking a bit forward. Will stop here.
As of ugliest - matter of taste.

*smile* love the Amiga 3.141 Case!
(A3000 is my favorite Amiga until now... Vampire might change that!)

I think a "Vampire Standalone" must do exactly that: stand alone!
I've got plenty of keyboards laying around -> not interested in a 500/600/1200-stile case.

Just make is small - than it will fit in many different casings...

Wow, this looks nice. It would be cool to have a case like this in the dimensions of a standard Amiga floppy disk drive. In this way we could all mount it easily in whatever Amiga case we have or just put an enclosure around it and attach a bigbox-Amiga style keyboard.

The A1000-Style minimig case by Thomas Koch is another option:

  EXTERNAL LINK

Raspi A3000-case looks nice, but shares something with the case linked above: The proportions don't quite work, me thinks.

Just make it A1200-compatible. We're getting new keyboards, we have new cases and the latter already feature raspi compatbile mountings.

A case like this for the vampire standalone pcb - and with at least enough free space inside for a laptop style hard drive to fit would be cool.

Something like the PiTop for the standalone would be awesome. First 68k amiga laptop! :D

Since 2016 Loriano offers "X500Pro" that extends to microATX boards, I believe and offers more space and options, but should be x500/evo based design
List of enhancements, sadly no pictures
EXTERNAL LINK
This is NOT produced, and NEEDS 50 preorders (Kickstart again?)

Somehow i think that the future case should be coming in 3 different sizes.

Minimig like case
A1200 like case
A4000 like case ( for asic standalone version and additional storage bays and various extensions)

there is nothing sexy with a wedge case that only resembles an amiga (or any other last century home computer) from a fair distance.

there is an a1200 wedge case reissue project. even with signatures of genuine developers or some stuff like that and i think it is miniitx/vampire ready. this is much closer to what a hardcore amiga fan would desire, i guess.

the heavy thing is the genuine keypad replacement, considering odd layout. it isnt just done with some caps for a regular pc tooth.

Some of these look like cheap toys. Even a small raspberry pi type case doesn't do it justice.

I would want a real case or something much larger with a good design.

Current standalone will likely be miniITX like most of FPGA boards.
Such small designs make a lot for space they occupy.

One day, when we live to see ASIC and some microATX or ATX board,
we ll be choosing from some different and more pro league.

RELEC/Acube have its own Minimig case, but I am not impressed.
EXTERNAL LINK  EXTERNAL LINK  There is a Crystal+ model
  EXTERNAL LINK
  Some people like Antecs style
  EXTERNAL LINK
A1200 design mini iTX case didnt make it
  EXTERNAL LINK  EXTERNAL LINK
But could have a comback due to "Vampire standalone interest"?

A2000/A4000 system would be nice, in fact I would opt for
DraCo Cube File Server Case/A4000T look as I never was such fan of desktop form factor :-)

After all Vampire Standalone should have similar specs
EXTERNAL LINK  Or Clean A4000T look
  EXTERNAL LINK
Surely, we would need someone to make new design inspired cases.

Currently, only Lorianos x500 is in existence as new design, and no models currently on sale.

Loriano also used to have Raspbery Pi small case for Minimig.
EXTERNAL LINK (middle of blog page about new Amiga keyboard)

Note: retro modders have fit miniITX boards into Spectrums, CBMs and I am sure they will find an A2000 or A3000/4000 plenty of space, but I prefer new cases :-)
