Ok you test on the 3000 and I test the 4000 ;-)

I am sure Apollo team has enough bigbox Amigas in their hands ;o) Not sure what is this thread about anyway.

Errrr, uhmmm, hmmmmm.

On that website, there were 5 developer motherboards listed using an Arria 10.

They were priced at $4,495 (x2 models), $5520 (x2) and a WHOPPING $8,995 U.S.!!!!!!

http://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?Language=English&CategoryNo=13&List=Simple#Category228

So, my question is, "is there any reason why an Apollo cored Vampire standalone motherboard can't be an Arria FPGA development board, like one of the INSANELY priced ones listed there???"

Any news about V4000? is there still the project to realize it or do the 4000 owners have to think about taking the A1200 from the cellar and buying the v1200?

Currenly A3000/A4000 are out of picture in V4 announcment.
My personal belief is that it is as hard/as simple as the CPU board connector. Might happen, feasiablity is up to team to say, but if you want Vamp faster, yes, A1200 will beat up A4000 fot sure in this aspect. Even A500/A600s :-)Some people are even thinking of modding Classic cases to fit standalone, if connector happens to be that big hustle, maybe that is the solution?

I hope that changes soon, i'd love to put a vampire in my 16mhz A3000, its long overdue for add in cards (I never put a CPU or RTG card in her and shes due for an upgrade).

I hope people will use the newly pressed A1200 cases instead of using an original classic shell, they aren't making them anymore and even a case I would hate to see get altered in a permanent way.

We plan several new cards for this year.
The standalones are done and under internal testings.
A4000 card will come after V1200

A3000 and a4000 will be happy with v3000/4000.
  After v1200, v3000/4000 will come.
The importand thing, we must not forget gunnar's sentences. :)

Or better, they should update v4 announcemnt with this info,
and hardFPU.

Here a good reason to build a V4 version for the 3000\4000

For me it's not any reason. Even it's true (I doubt), Vampire is different hardware and have completly different target. This is still old and completly outdated HW. I know all 060 accellerators, especially with PPC on board are briliant, but this price and this possibility without any chance to go forward. No, any of these cards are not my target today, not anymore. I want DIGITAL-VIDEO, I need some new features. I have my own BPPC with BVision, but today I'm using A600 with Furia and play WHDLoad games. I'm waiting for V4 (standalone or CDTV compatible) I don't care about Blizzard anymore.

Guys, remember, v4 and A1200 are very different products.  The A1200 board is V2 based (Ie it’s more like a cross between the v4 and the current v2’s for the A500/600s.). It’s going to come with a v2 core on it (although you can go to V3).

We know that Kipper made an adapter board that you could plug a V2 500 into and then plug that board into the A2000 processor slot.  Maybe a similar adapter board could be made for the 3000/4000 to adapt the v4 A500 board once it comes out. (Which should be very shortly after the V4SA since they are the same board just with the 68k socket pins added and the db9 ports removed...)

Unfortunately, I have seen multiple instances of confusion take place here and on other forums when people call the cores "V2" and "V3". Terminology is important here to avoid confusion and to provide a clear distinction between the CPU cores and the actual Vampire hardware itself.

To clear things up:

FPGA cores come in two branches: "GOLD 2" and "GOLD 3".

There are two main categories of Vampire hardware products: "V2" and "V4", with the "Standalone" model being the only "V4" Vampire product at this time.

"V2" Vampire FPGA's can take either a "GOLD 2" core or "GOLD 3" core, whereas the "Standalone" model will take a "GOLD 3" core only.

It is possible that, at some point down the road, "V4" Vampire products will be released as accelerators to plug into various Amiga computers, but we will have to wait and see.

Not the A500 Vampire, the processor slot in the 4000/3000 is not remotely compatible .. the V1200 would be a "closer fit" to using some kind of adapter board.. Even then, having the "board" work with the Zorro slots on the 3000/4000 complicate matters significantly..

Support for all AMIGA models is planned.
But this is a lot of work and will be done step by step.

Support for A1200 and CD32 is coming next, also the standalone.

Well I am first in line for the A3000 Vampire .. lol.. My poor A3000 hasn't EVER had a CPU board in it, (nor an RTG) this would be its first ever (I am the first and only owner its ever had)..

In the short term would a drop in 68080 CPU replacement for a 68040\68060 cpu be possible?
