A Few Newbie Questions

Hello :)

First off, congratulations on the wonderful Vampire boards and Apollo Core. This is the best project I have ever seen in Amigaland :)

I have a few simple questions that will be easily answered by the knowledgeable forum members (I have searched through the posts but could not find the specific information I was looking for):

Regarding the Vampire A500; when this project was discussed on the English Amiga Board a few years ago Majsta mentioned that the board would feature IDE (which, of course, it does in order to control the CF). I was wondering if this is solely used for CF access? I have looked at the pictures of the board on Majsta's site and could not spot a separate IDE header. The reason I ask is that it would be nice to be able to add a CD-ROM drive to the A500 (and there is plenty of room inside the case to fit an internal one, power would be an issue but not an insurmountable one). There is obviously no need for a feature like this on the A600/A1200 boards but for the stock A500 adding a CD-ROM drive is a difficult proposition.

My second question regards SAGA. Does the Amiga recognise this as if it is AGA? To clarify, if I were to run AGA software on an OCS/ECS Amiga equipped with Vampire would it 'just work'?

Many thanks for taking the time to read my long post and keep up the fantastic work :)

The renders for the new V500 that Majsta posted a few weeks ago show IDE header pins.

Ah, apologies. I must not have been looking at the correct picture. Yes, I see them now.

Many thanks :)

Wait...don't be satisfied yet...you did not get all your questions answered yet! Maybe you should put all your questions in bullet points and have each reply that fits as answer underneath your questions. This way when all the questions have an answer underneath it...then you can close the topic with all your questions answered.

The SAGA Chip includes all old chipsets: AGA, ECS and OCS. Not as separate chip, but as the SAGA chip can be run. Also there will be new features within SAGA. This is AGA for your A500, yes.

Until now it is planned that Vampire2-500 will come with the gold core, a better core than silver core. SAGA is not planned to be part of this release. It will come later.

This is not an answer of the Apollo Team, but a summary of some months information. Maybe they are wrong in meantime.
