Hi.

First of all. I am not that angry that it seems, but...

Why don't I get answer to simple questions?

Will I be able to use more than one expansion module?
Can malicious software brick or destroy my system?

Is this forum for hype or knowledge?

Cheers

1) at this moment, we have no expansions...
So who knows.

2) you can flash the vampire from the amiga side, so it is possible that something goes wrong during an upgrade or...
If something bad occurs, you can always overwrite the flashmemory with the "altera usb blaster" (search it on ebay, it costs 4$).

1) the team know the interface and its possibilities. I asked this regarding the parasite module that was "advertised" by the Apollo team. Just silence.

2) I am talking about malicious software. As in stuff written by people with bad intentions.

Here is another thing I have been thinking about, but wondering if I should post.

Seeing that using higher resolutions in saga modes affects the memory bandwidth. Turning saga off completely gives the best result.
Having this in mind. How will memory bandwidth and other parameters behave when introducing more code to the fpga on top of what we have atm. I'm thinking about FPU and on top of that, chipset implementation.

Well, if you don't read the answers, what can we do? Call you on the phone and read them to you?

I read some vague responses not adressing the issue I'm talking about.

It's still under development, the team members have daytime jobs.

Well i think those chances are really remote, and infinitely small.
I think you'll have better chance winning the lottery then catching something nasty on your vampire :)

One thing hasn't bot anything to do with the other. A more complex core doesn't imply a higher load on memory.

Well, there is some protocol to be followed for flashing the board such that flashing it by accident is not possible. However, if the core update exe can flash the board, so could a virus designed to do so. The flash could then be flashed again only via the JTAG interface, i.e. using a USB blaster.

Aksel,

I appologize that not all your questions were answered immdediately the same day here.

But please try to understand that the APOLLO Team goal is to revive the AMIGA.

The Team works hard on this, developing CPU, AMIGA chipset, developing
Hardware for old AMIGAs like the Vampire Accelerator and the Parasite. The team also designs complete new AMIGAs from ground up.
The team work on expansion cards for old AMIGAas like network cards.

The team works on drivers, on porting games and writing other software like video player.

As you can imagine this is a lot of work.
And the team does this for the goal of reviving AMIGA and not for making money.

The team members try their best to answer support questions on IRC or in this forum.
Pease try to understand that no one is paid for this and people do this support in their free time.

Hi Askel,

Errrr, yeah. So who is using "S-AGA"?

No one except for alpha/beta testers have it right now.

Weeeellllll. Remember, the Amiga motherboard, the A600/500(+)/1000/2000 is a bottleneck. When the S-AGA, FPU, AMMX are completed, the Amiga motherboard will do nearly ZERO work, and Vampire will FULLY CONTROL DIGITAL-VIDEO output.

PROBLEM$="solved"

If some of your questions aren't answered, I extremely hope that you don't buy an alternative AMIGA acceleration device. :-)

I fully understand that and appreciate all your effort. Have been following this project from the early Natami days. And it is truly awesome work!

Now that I finally have got my claws in a vamp myself, I finally can "contribute". I mean all of this as constructive "criticism" as I wish this project to succeed in every way. Sorry if I seem pessimistic. I'm really exited these days. :D

    Cheers
