Vampire V2 Vs Firebird V4 Question On Video Output

So on my Vampire v2 on A500 it switches between DIGITAL-VIDEO for games etc but the workbench etc signal is still via the native videonoutputs (or via my native to VGA indivision) and so monitor is switching back and forth. If I buy the firebird v4 will then ALL signal outputs both from workbench etc and games be via DIGITAL-VIDEO ?

And if so will sound also be via DIGITAL-VIDEO or thr native cinch  ? Or can I choose where sound goes out even?

Hello Lance,

Regarding your question about Video OUT:

The FIREBIRD comes with a little red or yellow jumper.
Two  modes are possible:

(1) Mode CRT (Jumper = open) your Amiga will run games on its Amiga
video out. This is ideal for running game on your old CRT Amiga 1084
monitor - and you will have high resolution workbench with 16bit audio over DIGITAL-VIDEO. Over DIGITAL-VIDEO also the Amiga games are shown and playable.

(2) Mode SuperAGA (Jumper = closed) This enables full Super AGA.
In this mode you have more Chipmemory 6MB,
and enhanced Chipmemory speed = over 50 times faster.
This mode allows you to benefit from higher quality Audio and
better Video than Amiga could before - but in this mode the
CRT display is disabled - as the CRT output can not show AGA games.

Running  in  Super-AGA  will  allow  you  to  play  AGA  games  on  DIGITAL-VIDEO screen, will increase your Chip memory will enable you to play 16bit and thereby removes previous limitation on music and graphic.

In both modes you can play Amiga games on DIGITAL-VIDEO.
In Super-AGA mode you can play A1200/AGA games.

I hope I could answer your question?

Hallo Gunnar and thank you for your reply.

So in SuperAGA mode I also still get the Workbench and OCS/ECS games out over the DIGITAL-VIDEO port ?

Yes you can see all on DIGITAL-VIDEO :
PAL WB, RTG truecolor WB, Amiga games (Giana Sisters, Turrican ..)
and you can also play AGA games like Aladin or Banshee - on the DIGITAL-VIDEO.
