Icedrake, 3.2 Rom and SD Incompatibility

After more than 1 year testing i come to the conclusione that 3.2 roms installed in my amigas 1200 (rev. 1D4 and 2B) prevent the Icedrake SD slot to work properly.

Removing the new roms and setting the old 3.1 ones it seems work ok.

Am I the one that experienced such a problem?

From the Icedrake manual:

"The boot using mainboard Kickstart Jumper will allow you to boot your old unchanged Workbench from the 1990th"

Please only use it for this purpose!

This mode will create instability and many problems if you want to use new features like RTG.

If you want to run a modern Workbench with new feature.
Please always flash the Kickstart of your choice to the card.

Could it be that you use the "vanilla OS 3, 1992 mode" Jumper?

But don't worry many people not read the manuals.
Therefore this mode is actually removed in the current cores.

I read the manual downloadable on this site and it says that the Jumper J1 is used to select video Out (CRT mode or SuperAGA). Anyway i always left it open indeed it booted flawlessly with TrioBootloader (ApolloOS, Coffin and AmigaOS 3.2) with default settings,

I gave the IceDrake to a friend of mine that has an Amiga 1200 with 3.1 roms to test the SD slot he was able to use SD card and even the SD extender worked, i still have to check on my 3 (!) A1200 due to lack of time available (have to unplug the Roms and it's a bit tricky) but the only difference between our amigas is that I have 3.2 roms in the sockets and he has 3.1 ones
I have a 2 A1200 rev 2B and 1 A1200 rev. 1D4 that works ok with BlizzardPPC and Blizzard 1230IV and with none of them SD slot ever worked.

Hello Massimo,

The recent cores from March/April this year support the CRT/SAGA mode switch Jumper. The manual matches the latest Core status.
Maybe updating the Core might be a nice idea?

Please note for reliable operation of Ports like the SDcard you need a reliable power supply for your Amiga.

Possible problems can be a weak PSU, or a consument on the DIGITAL-VIDEO port e.g. a scandoubler or DIGITAL-VIDEO switch which eats power from the machine.

Please make sure to remove all external devices that could affect power consumption.

Hello Gunner, always thank you for so fast replies.

The Core is updated to 9234 version using USB blaster

We talked about power supply issues this was the reason why i bought a MeanWell 65B PSU as you suggested me, the DIGITAL-VIDEO output is directly plugged to the monitor so i guess power consumption should not be an issue.

I know one customer who has a "flat DIGITAL-VIDEO" cable which had a form of  short inside the cable.
And this bad cable degraded power level and disabled the SDcard and other ports.

i have a normal DIGITAL-VIDEO cable, i don't know why there was an automatic correction of the word DIGITAL-VIDEO in "Digital Video" but I just have a simple DIGITAL-VIDEO cable connected to an DIGITAL-VIDEO monitor without any adapter and any switch in the middle
