Hi,
Is it possible to boot icedrake from microSD card slot? If not, when will be?

MicrosSD card is only for data exchange, if your looking for a reliable CF card, there are few that I could recommend.

Hello,

All cards boot from IDE.

On the icedrake you have the choice to boot from the Amiga 1200 mainboard IDE port. The A1200 mainboard IDE port has a speed of 3.5 MB/sec.
You can of course also boot from the ICEDRAKE internal FastIDE port.
This FastIDE port has a speed of over 12MB/sec.

And you can also boot from Floppy. :-)

The SDCard slot can be used for Data exchange.
To boot from SDCard slot some changes to Amiga Kickstart would be needed - there are currently no plans for this.

I would eventually like to see the Icedrake fully support SD2IDE adapters on it's fastIDE port and be able to use SD cards rather than CF cards due to easier availability and price difference.

SD2IDE are supported but they come with a number of caveats.
There are many different adapters, sometimes of different / lower quality. The protocol translation will always result in an overhead and this will result in a slowdown. If you accept these drawbacks then you can use them. The Vampire as a high end product and using a CF gives you a high end solution matching it.

Gunnar is there any particular SD2IDE adapter you would recommend? The adapter in the picture below works perfect with the V2-1200 but the Icedrake just does not see it.

I use this SD2CF adapter and it works for me, I will say I only really use this for doing testing of various releases and other test-only scenarios .. my main hard drive is a true CF card
