Core Version Confusion

just started to use my new V4S and wanted to update it to the newest version core/os  (im vampire noob right now so go easy with me)

so my knowledge is limited, and need some answered to fix confusion.

the core is really in a way equivalent kickstart/bios/Rom?
so to update the system i need core and separate OS updates right?

so if i got it right so far, i went and downloaded latest core, but here starts the confusion

on your main Apollo page you have this one
  EXTERNAL LINK  RELEASE7_2.JIC 8MB (2021/08/22)

but when searching for a guide on google i found this:
  https://wiki.apollo-accelerators.com/doku.php/vampire:vsa-v4:updates
  8148 RELEASE7 2021-08-18 JIC (AROS)

  but, i picked the first one  UPDATE7_2.exe 8MB (2021/08/22)
copied it on 32gb microsd and run it.  because i need to do some big changes to get internet using cable, so this the sd card thing instead.

the thing is, when visiting early startup when resetting it shows Release 7 2021-07-28  and this is where i don't understand, why is not the one i installed showing correct date from all the others.

i searches everywhere on google and workbench if there where another way getting version number showing so i could compare and pick correctly.
only info you get from early startup is release 7. and a strange date.

please, don't take my question the wrong way, you all are great nerds and just seeking guidness on my path to new knowledge:)) probably just me who is stupid lol

wow, that was fast:)

Anyway, i didn't really had any problem,  its just want to be sure how you guys organize everything.  So i don't brick it. i tend to follow install guides exactly as it says in the manual, any miss match from guide to real thing makes me confused:)

Well, it survived first round of core update, means i do it right..  will try this new 7.3:)
