V4 Standalone Freezing Issues.

Good evening there everyone.

I`ve now had the V4 since January and during this time I`ve had
2 or 3 core-updates and tried ApolloOs,Coffin R58, and Amikit. I am not a retero-gamer, and I only have this system as way to explore the Amiga-side of computer-history.

So I do not turn on my V4 with a specific task in mind, but rather to look around and learn. Since this is hardware that comes with updates I have since I got it accounted the "freeze death" to the fact that both the CPU-core and OS`s for this system still receives vital updates on a regular basis.

I have noticed this happening both during actively doing a task and just looking in the OS`s menu or something else random. It normally gets noticed with a suddenly slow down of the mouse, until it completely is unresponsive and hard reboot is required. I learned quickly to have a cord with switch.

I wonder if anyone else have this issue,or even better had it,but found the reason for it?

It has been awhile since I was trying it daily so I`m unsure if the problem was more in one OS over the others, but I have seen this issue in all of them. Which also could be unrelated even.

Since I have no experience with Amiga other than emulators I have not manage to isolate what causes this.

I did never get around to buy roadshow yet, and I was wondering if that could have helped, but that is a far fetch shot at best.

Any suggestions and assistance is appreciated.
Thanks for taking time reading everyone.

Hi Dj,

1) for quick support please join our discord channel.
Discord is much better suited for live support then a forum.

2) What you say should never happen (normally).
I need a lot more information from you what you installed on the system. Please note that the V4 has a feature called TURTLE mode.
The V4 is 300 times faster than a on A500. And when running the truecolor display ... and playing MP3 etc you really need this speed.

The V4 has also a featured called "TURTLE-MODE" this slows it down to A1200 speed. Some very old games really need this to run correctly. What you describe sounds to me like to turned on TURTLE mode. This would explain the machine "being slow".

Please ping me on Discord and we check this together.

  Cheers
  Gunnar

Hi Gunnar.
Thanks for the reply.

It is sorta both nice and bad to hear that it should never happen.
Nice as to the project itself, a bit bad because then maybe something is wrong with my unit only.. hehe.

I am sure I could`ve explained this better in my OP.
In general,as far as I know it feels lightning fast when running without issues, the only slow-down comes as it is about to "freeze".

Meaning everything is fast and responsive, until its not and very quickly after mouse suddenly slows down it will be total unresponsive and require a power-off and on to be back.

I am also quite sure I`ve seen the options for turtle-mode and as I have never had any use of slowing the system down it has remained unused.

I will try get the discord running on my main machine in the coming days.

Cheers, yes!

I want to say that this happens to me as well. Although so far it only seems to happen after a program has crashed - like Alien Breed 3D II. Sometimes loading an SD card triggers this as well.

Then the system will silently lock up about 5 minutes later. I assume this is because the crashed program overwrote other parts of the memory.

Whenever this happens I turn the machine off and restart it, then I get the kickstart disk loading screen until I turn it off and on again. This happens on both ApolloOS and Coffin.

Just the way of the road in Amigaland I figure.

I do not think that there is anything wrong with your unit.
It sounds to me more like a usage error, or maybe a software issues.
Please ping me on Discord and we sort this out.
