Vampire 500 V2 RTC?

I tried looking in the forum but I couldn't see anywhere this question was asked/answered (please forgive me if it has)..

Are there any provisions for a real time clock with the Vampire 500 V2? .. I was just curious if a "trapdoor" RTC is needed even with an A500 equipped with a Vampire 500 V2..

I presume once internet stuff is added it could be fetched from a net based time server but I was just curious if out of the box you still need an expansion card with a functional clock on it for an Amiga 500 to be able to have the correct time/date..

Thanks!

The Vampire cards don't feature an RTC. You still need either a Rev8 A500 board (A500+) or a trapdoor expansion.

That being said, I actually use ntpsync on network startup since the RTC in my A500 is not too accurate.

I figured .. what are you using for network on the A500?

Right now, a plipbox would be a viable choice, cheap if you've got some soldering skills or still affordable when buying readily made devices.

With some patience right now, you will see other options for networking with V500/600 cards approaching (planned: spring 2017).
