Is this connected to the global chip crisis?

The biggest problem of the V1200 is the years long waiting time. Unfortunately we get no informations from Igor at the moment about production and waiting time. Without information, any planning is impossible and also the future of the V1200 is very uncertain. While the Apollo-Team would like to help here, this is impossible. We are really sorry here, this lies only in Igors control.

May I ask what the FPGA manufacturer part number is? I want to look up whether there is a long chip production time. Is it a 40k LE Intel MAX-10 chip?

OK, thanks. At Digi-Key, that one has 46 weeks delivery time: EXTERNAL LINK Mouser.com reports 78 weeks factory lead time: EXTERNAL LINK

While this is true this is not the problem here.

| Hello everyone, I'm a long time lurker on this forum and a proud owner of V1200 card. One of the reasons that brought me to buy this card was, among others, to be able to use AGA and enhanced AGA (SAGA) modes directly on DIGITAL-VIDEO. Specifically I'd love to have the "Planar (native) Video " specified in "https://wiki.apollo-accelerators.com/doku.php/saga:video" on my A1200 as they are (or promise to be) not just a "plain" re-implementation of AGA, already available on A1200 , but a huge enhancement of it. And those features would be available on GOLD3 and beyond (according to the site). So my question is: Would GOLD3 be ever available on V1200? Thank you very much, Andrea

| Ok so thats about 15k more than the 500/600 version.

GOLD3 = SAGA is today only available on the V4 Standalone.

| Can someone explain what is meant by Chipset: SAGA Core on the following page:- http://wiki.apollo-accelerators.com/doku.php/vampire:v1200-v2:start

| On v2 cards SAGA represents a set of drivers for RTG graphic card (vampiregfx) ,SD+Eth devices and some control and utility tools like vcontrol, VampireMap, etc. On v4 represents a set of new hardware registers that expands the original AGA features. So Paula becomes Arne and gains 4 additional audio channels with 16 bit fidelity. And the implementation is incremental respect the Aga chipset, not a PC-style add-on (in fact it's really a SuperAGA)

| This seems very different to what is described when you click the SAGA Core link on the V1200 page that leads here -> http://wiki.apollo-accelerators.com/doku.php/vampire:v1200-v2:start Does this page need updating to reflect the true specification of the card ?Or are is the intention that we will receive these features or a subset of them at some point in the future?

I think the page is correct. The V1200 implement a subset of SAGA. It does implement the chunky modes as correctly listed on this page. The page says: Modes up to 1280×720@60Hz, 1920×1080@24Hz Color depths of 8, 15/16, 24, 32 bits per pixel Hardware-accelerated video playback And this is all fully correct! It implement the fast IDE controller. This is also fully correct again Other SAGA features as for example * 32bit copper * Planar modes * SAGA enhanced Sprites * 16bit Audio Are not listed for the V1200. And is this is correct again, as the V1200 not support them. The v1200 implements SAGA chunky parts as listed on the page.

| Hello, thank you for replying. I do understand that, as today, the GOLD3 is only available on v4 Standalone. Is a little less clear if GOLD3 will be released in the future for V1200 too. Thanks

| Or if those extra 15k gates will be put to use.

Please lets not confuse people here Of the 15k is already some are used. So there not 15K free. Please mind that the V4 has a much bigger FPGA. Assuming you can fit all from the V4 into the V1200 is not realistic.
