Will the Vampire 1200 Work With the New A1100?

A new 32bit motherboard (A1100) will be available soon for the Amiga 1000. This will have an Amiga 1200 expansion port internally. The A1100 will have a 68020 and ECS graphics, so in contrast to the A1200 it will not have an AGA chipset. Will you still be able to connect the Vampire 1200 via this?

a1100 is based around a500 plus chipset, an a1200 vampire requires aga I believe so only cd32 a4000 would work with it.

I guess we should see if this product is seriously going to come to fruition. Looks good as an idea.

I would guess the potential issues with using a V1200 on it could be bus timings and address bus implementation. The connector always had a 32bit address bus but only a 24bit bus on the 68EC020 so the V1200 may not expect to see 64MB (or any) fast RAM in the motherboard.

why does it "require" AGA? what would make you think this? the Vampire v2 range do not mess with the chipset they are CPU cards.

the A1200 only has a EC type CPU so why would there be an issue?

While a few people worldwide will like this
Lets not forget that A1000 are super rare.
And many real Amiga fans will never kill their original Amiga for it.

Whether the Vampire work with it or not.
This we can only say after testing.
Before testing it - there is little value in making any assumptions.

How is removing the original MB killing it? Set it aside and reinstall anytime you want to.

My old A1000 went to friend in 1994. I am asking to get it back but it is in pieces and its PSU has been cannibalised. Mainboard and most of the case are still intact but it is in unusable condition. Fitting A1100 board with new PSU will reanimate it like never before. It is like a rebirth,
