Updating the Core and Stuff.

Greetings friends, and good afternoon to all.

So I finally had time to sit down with my V4 Standalone last night. I had been looking around to see if I found a way to check what version of the core it ran or last update or anything, but I could not find that. However I did find in the top menu "Vampire" and something about core update or something. So I started the browser and went to download the last core and got it down. When I then started the update process it prompted me to answer "yes" to everything there and then asked me to close the window to continue.

My question now became very easy, because nothing did happen after closing window, and what I wonder is: is it me who did not get it right or is there a bug or something,or does it go super fast and maybe no progress window? The V4 is still acting just as before though,so everything is in that way working as normal.

While I`m here asking questions I might as well throw in a few more:

1. Is there a way (in Apollo OS) to check what core its running?

2. Does Apollo OS also provide any easy click and go update service?

Many thanks for any reply and thanks for reading.

Core Release is shown in Early Boot Menu

You mean for the Core?
The download of the latest Core update with Browser is the easy update for this.

Good evening Gunnar and thanks for the reply.
1. Will have a look for that.

2. I meant for the OS itself. I was just curious.

The OS itself doesn't have an update mechanism as of yet. So, it's currently a complete re-download and overwrite of the existing OS image on the internal CF card.

Core itself can be updated either using the CLI or by using an option off the menu which runs it for you. Note that you have to have the correct .JIC file on the V4 to go that route. Also a good idea to have a USB Blaster, as that's the only way to revive a flash of the core which doesn't work.

There is an option however (AFAIR), when using a V4BL wrapper to the OS, to use the "upgrade ApollOS" feature.

Hello Vampire-fans,
and hello to Dj Up,

I think, an easy way to check the core-version is the CLI-Command "vcontrol co". My V500 tells me the version that way.

Best regards
Oliver
