Vampire A1200 and Coffin Screen Res On Scartpage  1 2

I've finally managed to get my vampire and coffin os working.

The coffin is plugged into the mainboard, bit the screen Res won't go above 256 colours.

Every single setting I change it to shows a blank screen.

I've tried plugging the CF card info the vampire but just get a blue screen on Scart and hdmi

So, are you saying on the SCART output you are only able to get at most 256 colours?
If so then that would probably be correct as its the native Amiga output.
If you are getting a blank screen on SCART once you change the resolution it may be that it is switching to RTG output on Digital Video.

Are you using CoffinOS or ApolloOS? As Apollo OS is restricted to a certain resolution for test purposes.

Otherwise updating the drivers and core would be something to try.

Before I install coffin I was getting more on normal workbench.

Using coffin OS, the core and coffin are latest versions.

How would I update the Saga drivers? Sorry new to this after so long

The files can be found here https://www.apollo-accelerators.com/#download
Though it does sound more like a software issue, if you are transferring from a pc then keep the files in the archive and only unarchive on the Amiga.
I didnt do this and it took me hours to realize why they didnt work.

I think black screen on Scart is expected.
The Amiga mobo will only ever give out the PAL/NTSC resolutions with up to 256 colors.

The Vampire comes with a GFX-Card Video out.
If you select on WB a new / higher resolution screenmode, then this signal will come over the Vampire Video Port.

Only the V4SA will send both (old PAL / new HD modes) over the same video output.

The V2-Accelerator cards always use the old AmMiga port for the old Amiga signals and the new port for the new / higher resolutions.
The old Amiga port can not support the higher modes.

so if i select a higher resolution it should be on the hdmi channel the vampire connected too?

Well anything higher will only output to H.D.M.I. as it will be using the SAGA P96 RTG output on the Vampire. You won't have anything coming out of the RGB output. But resolution doesn't really matter you can output 320x200 out of the Vampire H.D.M.I. port if you set the workbench to an RTG mode.

So I must be doing something wrong then, how do I go about setting workbench to the rtg mode?

I'm on screen mode and again no matter which Res I choose it doesn't show on hdmi either, so I must be missing a step.

It should just be a matter of selecting one of the SAGA screen modes. Although by default normally Coffin would be on a screenmode that uses the H.D.M.I output, so this is odd.

Tried updating to the latest SAGA driver?

All the latest drivers yeah I tried yesterday.  The CF card is installed on the main Amiga motherboard that's right isn't it?

It won't boot when I plug into into the vampire ide

im not being daft here and using screenmode to select the resolution?  thats correct isnt it ?

Speed wise it would be faster on the vampire IDE, but not sure why that wouldn't work. wouldn't think it would matter either way... although I don't have a V1200, have a V500 and V600 setup.

1. If you want picture on RGB Amiga output, you must select right screenmode. For example PAL:Highres for 640x256 4-256 colors. P96 has nothing to do with RGB output from A1200 mainboard.
If you want picture over H.D.M.I. output, you must select SAGA monitor with right settings for connected monitor. 640x480/60Hz is universal screen resolution for all PC monitors. If 640x480 works, you can experiment with higher resolutions. The refresh frequency settings in Coffin are too low for many monitors and may not always work.  It is often necessary to increase the pixelclock, so that the refresh frequency is at least 60Hz.
  2. Latest official release V1200 firmware (GOLD2.12) supports only Amiga onboard IDE. If you want both IDE ports active, you must flash latest beta version (GOLD 2.13RC3) of firmware with USB blaster.

Thank you, ok I understand.

So just to be clear where would I select the saga monitor to select it and that resolution?

I've installed the latest drivers.

Workbench->Prefs->Screenmode.
Which screenmode is appear there depends on Workbench->Prefs->Devs->Monitors. If your monitor type is missing, simply drag it there from Workbench->Prefs->Storage->Monitors and restart Amiga.

Thanks I'm no further forward, in fact it has now given up booting on the Amiga.

It still works in UAE so I'm lost.
