If it is an Amiga 1200 why not to use a PCMCIA Ethernet?

Its a lot cheaper/and available to use a generic ethernet module for the Vampire.

I moved from PCMCIA to the Vampire because it means I don't need to have a card stuck out the side with an adaptor plugged in. All the cables for my Miggy now come out the back of the case making it look somewhat neater.

Also doesnt need the PCMCIA reset fix either.

To the original poster, I cant help with the as I made my own cable.

Yes you can use the ribbon cable from the YSB blaster.  I’ve just tried it and works a treat.

  Thank you.  Thought it would.

I have both the ethernet module and a PCMCIA card,  I want to see what the relative Xfer speeds are and cpu load.  Plus as someone mentioned would rather not have a card sticking out the side

Using amispeedtest, on a V1200, 7565 core, coffin r57 and purchased version of roadshow.:-

i get nearly 6megabits upload and 0.6megabits download with ENC device on vampire port
  Average download speed = 57 kilobyte/s
  Average upload speed - 559 kilobyte/s

  with a D-link DRP-16CT PCMCIA network card:-
  Average download speed = 737kilobyte/s
  Average upload speed = 715 kilobyte/s
so with PCMCIA, i'm nearly maxing out it's 10megabit connection!

i didn't take a snapshot of the CPU usage, as i would guess it's not really worth mentioning on the V1200.
But i didn't expect such a difference between PCMCIA and the ENC module. I'm sticking with PCMCIA and the reset bug! :D
