Preparing for Vampire Ownership

Just got my email telling me I'm allocated a Vampire 1200. Very good news! Now I have to think smart about how to put it in my setup.

PCMCIA isn't working yet, which is a problem to me because I'm very used to having my 1200 networked for file transfer. I've seen plipbox type solutions, but they sound slow.

Is there some ethernet module out there to connect to the vampire?

Then there's the matter of RTG and audio, which on vampire is by the connector we shall not name. As an Amiga fundamentalist I use CRT monitor, which of course uses VGA, and some seperate speakers.

Has anyone experience of DIGITAL-VIDEO to VGA adapters? Ideally with some analog audio output too.

I think pcmcia fix will be one of the top priorities on v1200 core development. Many of us have lot of hardware for that port (CD-roms adapters, CF adapters and Wi-Fi adapters), so I hope there will be an update on this issue very soon.

PCMCIA is working - depending on the Core.
PCMCIA is working on cores without FASTUIDE-
But this is work in progress soon both should work at the same time.

Yes you can use the ethernet same modules that you can use at the V500. They are low priced at $5 and are relative fast.

So there is a core without fast-ide that enables pcmcia. Maybe can be released to the public as some people will prefer to use the slower ide than having no access to pcmcia.

The module Gunnar refers to is this:

Is there a wireless version of this ethernet module?

My V1200 card should ship this week and i'm looking to make the best use if it.
I'd appreciate some advice on where to get the following items. Part numbers and/or links would be great.
Will the items i've linked to work?

Vampire 1200 V2 hardware peripherals to add:

1. 44pin IDE to MicroSD adapter for boot drive
Haven't found any suitable options. Where/what to get?

2. 32BG MicroSD card to boot from
  EXTERNAL LINK
3. 128GB MicroSD card for storage
  EXTERNAL LINK
4. MicroSD extension cable for storage card
Best i've found is only 15cm long and supports up to 32GB capacity. Better options?
  EXTERNAL LINK
5. thin DIGITAL-VIDEO cable
Should i just get one long enough to reach of the case or go all the way to the monitor?
  EXTERNAL LINK  EXTERNAL LINK
6. Ethernet connector
Is there a compatible wireless option?

7. USB Blaster
  EXTERNAL LINK
8. RTC (Real Time Clock)
Not really Vampire related and i can get one from an Amiga retailer.
Do i have to remove my A1200 shield to use this?

I’ve read that those flat hdmi câbles are not very good as they lack proper shielding, I just bought a slimline one from amazon and it works great. In terms of micro SD cards I can confirm they work. I use them myself. I wouldn’t use one long cable for hdmi, it could pull out the card. In my 600 i panel mounted it on the back

MH, Thanks for the advice.

I found some IDE to MicroSD adapters but i don't think they would fit due to my A1200's floppy drive being in the way.

4. Believe i've found a MicroSD port extension cable, available in a variety of lengths, that will work.

1. So i'm looking to get a 44pin IDE ribbon cable to go from my V1200 card to my IDE adaptor which will be mounted on the hard drive tray.

Is the IDE connector on the V1200 card male or female? Based on the pic i'm looking at i think male but am not sure.

That’s the one I use for my v600.

It's a male connector.
