Don't worry - I already started with the emulator last week - it can easily take me 4-6 weeks just to get my base Jaguar codebase running in the emulator. I've created the bitplane gfx mode, with some debugging / print functionality and am troubleshooting the RTG chunky gfx mode OS calls now. Once the chunky mode is working in emulator, I can start porting the 3D engine with the game. AMMX, indeed, will be the very last step.
