guys - I assume the HP X1000 was added after I reported that it worked in Gunnars test build? As such it should be removed from this list and from the Wiki for now.

It does not work with the current release core 7160C so anyone buying one will be disappointed until a core based on the recent tests is released.

Hi Martin,

Yes the list is the latest status of the core.
We make new Core versions ever day.
We make "official Releases" about once per month.
But every user can always get the latest test core from me.

What is very important for me is that the list of supported mice
always improves with each core.
This means that a new core shall always support all what the previous cores did too.

I think our USB Mice support improved greatly with the last cores.
Nearly all the cable mice that I have work now.
My impression is that we are close to 90% of cable mice working.

What kind of adjustments must be made in order to get a mouse working?

I assumed so far they all implement the same profile.

So far our general knowledge about the USB protocol
increases and improves and our USB host controller simply gets better.

Oh, so some kind of reverse engineering approach then?
I thought HID is well documented and standardized.

So kudos of approaching it the hard way.

Maybe just like HTML is also well documented,
nevertheless writing a perfect Webbrowser is still a very complex task.

So for us this is learning curve and our USB HOST Controller does get better all the time.

Here is one I just confirmed works that can be added to the list.  Found commonly in the US at Best Buy:

Interesting enough. I always assumed mice or keyboards would be implemented the same way, independent from the model.

I'm trying to figure out how the host controller is attached to the system. I assume it must be present at low level and it transparently passes mouse and keyboard to the OS?
Or is there an USB stack involved at OS level?

No USB stack involved because otherwise USB mice and keyboards wouldn't work in floppy-disk games or in the early startup menu (which they do). You can read the left mouse button of the USB-mouse in the same place you have always done on an Amiga...

I guess, this is a good thread to ask this question.
Will standalone (in the future) going to be sold as a package with mouse and a keyboard?
Long story short: I won't purchase Vampire standalone anytime soon, but when I am purchasing it, I'd like to purchase mouse and keyboard with it.
It doesn't matter really.. just pick any most compatible keyboard and mouse, slap a vampire logo on top of them, and it will be great.
Add to the price 50-100 euro's of course.

Imho, many people think like me. We are very average users, and would like to pick up the package as a whole. I'd rather pay higher price, then, after vampire arrived at my home, I need to chase mouse and a keyboard.

Thanks, and keep up the awesome work!

Yes I agree a complete /working bundle makes most sense.
Actually we offered the V4 already
with CF-adapter and CF and working Mouse from us.

There is another bit to it. Not all devices are easily avail on all markets, and not all goods travel really free. For e.g. EU Candidate countries or non-members (like UK soon :) import can add quite to the price per item. So package gets a lot more meaning, beside less hustle.

With the latest testcore I found one mouse in my collection which is working - I'm afraid not very helpfull for others because it's not available anymore. I'm quite happy because it's a mouse for left handed guys and the colour fits to the Vampire. :)

Thanks for the info. I'll add it to the list.
If you ship me one of these then I can test every release with it and make sure it will always work ;-)
