Just a "n00b" question about the FPGA used in Vampire 600V2.

It looks like it's an Altera Cyclone III with ~ 40K LE's..  Doing a quick check on Mouser a Cyclone V E with ~ 40K LEs appears a lot cheaper than the older Cyclone III.    I would also assume a V would be faster/lower power than a III because it's 28nm instead of 65nm.  The Cyclone V dev boards do look more expensive though..

Why not use a Cyclone V E instead of a Cyclone III?
