AGA Performance On V1200 Vs. Standalone?

I was wondering, since AGA+++ is implemented in the core on the V4, is it this on the V1200 too, or is it using native AGA only?

I kinda like the idea of using the Amiga as a base, but if hit with significant performance penalty compared to standalone in AGA modes... :|

Apologies if this have already been answered.

The V1200 uses the Amigas own chipset, like the V2 on 500's and 600's. Though (I think) it will still have the rtg on-board and DIGITAL-VIDEO out on it.

Yes SAGA in the GOLD3 Release does offer better performance than AGA in Amiga1200.

For the Vampire 1200 GOLD2 is the default core shipped.
But you will be able to choose GOLD3

    V1200 is currently V2 not V4 (V4 V1200 might come later).

So for now, V1200 bangs AGA chipset with its aging limits. You get faster IDE,RTG,080 CPU and tons of FAST RAM. Full DIGITAL-VIDEO out would have to use Indivision or such, same as A500/A600 with GOLD 2.x core.

Once GOLD3 core is done/elements backported from V4, V1200 V2 will have all the SAGA powers (16-bit sound, full a/v DIGITAL-VIDEO, faster blitter with more sprites,2-12MB FAST mapped as CHIP etc.). V4 for A1200 will surely have it since day one, but that is not avail that soon as V1200 V2 (and will cost more).
