| is this possible? maybe not on the board but a pin of the IDE ? what pins do i tap for a header on a 44?

Pin #39 is the activity signal line. Hook the cathode end of the LED to pin 39, the anode end to a 220ohm resistor and then the other end of the resistor to +5V (both puns 41 and 42 supply 5V - I would suggest using 42 since that’s the motor power line and if you aren’t spinning a mechanical drive it’ll have minimal Impact). The size/value of the resistor depends on the size of the LED so you might need to experiment a little bit.

Cool, just DON'T try to do it without putting a resistor in there. You WILL fry something if you don't! There needs to be SOME load on the line at all times.. Experiment with the resistor size depending upon the resistance of the LED. IF you want it brighter, go with a lower value resistor or vice versa, but something has to be in there to keep it from shorting out. Enjoy and let us know how it goes!

| if you use a cf adapter, most of them have a place to get the led.
