IndivisionECSv2 Hardware Not Foundpage  1 2 3

Hello have buy a Indivision ECS V2 for my A2000 with Vampire 500v2+, Indi works but the Configuration Tool says "no Hardware found".

Jens Schönfeld (Individual Computers) means here find i help.:
...same solution: Go to the vendor of the accelerator and have them free the path to the registers of our product. There is no reason to block these registers in an OCS/ECS machine.

Ich have read from another User with a A500 he has the same problem, here is the Original Tread:
https://forum.icomp.de/index.php?thread/172-indivisionecsv2-hardware-not-found-but-working-and-installed-in-a500-w-vampire50/&postID=1074#post1074

can anyone fix this with a core update?

Please check the Vampire hardware compatibility list:

The reason the Indi-config tool not works is that
both Indi and SAGA use overlapping registers.

There is no fix to this.

ScanPlus ECS Video Adapter for A500 / 2000 is the answer for you if you feel uncomfortable with this. No tools are used and no adjustments.

the same thing happens with the Retina ZII card in my Amiga 2000 with Vampire.

You can configure the Indivision in a system without a Vampire and then move it to the Vampire machine. You should probably not need to change the config once it has been set up.

yes a switch to a other Machine is an option, what do the People that have only one Machine? Is a option but bad option. The better way is free this registers, when its possible.

  Edit:
An Info from Jens Schönfeld:
There has been an even easier suggestion on a1k.org, and that's using register mirrors. Please relay the following information to the Apollo-core team:

The Amiga chip registers are mirrored many times, and the conflict may be solved easily if our config tool uses a different mirror. My suggestion would be that we move "one step higher", so instead of using offset $df.f000, we'll use $df.f800. I can see that SAGA already uses the different mirrors of the chip registers for more registers, so it should be easy to declare anything above $df.f800 as "must be passed to the original chipset".

This may already be in the Apollo core, but before we do the change on our side, it would be nice if we get feedback from Gunnar about his will (or lack of) to free this address space.

Couldnt you just remove the vampire, configure the indivisionECS and then reinstall the vampire?

It is nice to see two pieces of hardware still being developed for the Amiga and their developers offering to coordinate their efforts.
Even though I hope the Indivision will soon not be needed any more due to AGA via DIGITAL-VIDEO, at least getting in contact sounds good. ;)

I agree, a solution should be made. Having to physically remove hardware just to configure it is not a good idea or practical.

The ECS V2 has a far more advanced config tool as well as a Scan Converter. If you change Monitors after the initial Setup I imagine this would be required again due the new Monitor having different timings and their unique electronic behaviors.

yes i would love to see this problem solved as its nagged me for ages!!! yes you can remove the vamp but honestly its took me ages to get it stable and i am reluctant to remove it and risk upsetting the apple cart, and yes i can put my Indivision in my 500 apart from its got no harddisk and the tool and firmware dont fit on floppy together so again inconvenient the best all round solution (at least until we get AGA and SAGA together) would be make the indivision and the vampire registers compatible - I back this play 100%

I would need a complete list of INDI ECS register plus the information are they poked to by the Copper, by the CPU or both.

Lord A1k I believe you have or can get this information?

With the long expressed intention to move and enhance the graphics and audio chipset fully to the FPGA of the Vampire I see no point in supporting devices that rely on the old chipset for functionality. The long term choice is clear, classic chipset functionality or Vampire digital output. Buying or using an Indivision for a Vampired Amiga is a waste.

If you want to use a CRT display for retro reasons don't plan to do it long term with a Vampire. Just my opinion as always.

Not all potentially do the switch to Core3 if not both AGA and RTG is available.
Hence a FlickerFixer/ScanDoubler will still be needed.

I love my Vampire and Indivsion ECS (V2). They must co-exist in Harmony! I appreciate any effort in making this happen.

Answer from Jens from his Support Forum:

E-Mail from Jens to Gunnar:
I did send him an eMail a few days ago already. No answer yet.

The config tool obviously only accesses these registers with the CPU. We could of course take the detour through copper and bypass the Vampire that way, but the solution with opening one of the mirrors is a lot easier. Gunnar not responding to that very suggestion feels like a delay strategy.

Would the copper write to a register that officially doesn't exist on the Amiga chipset?

Gunnar not responding to that very suggestion feels like a delay strategy.

He sure knows how to motivate people...
