Hi there,

Any pointers in getting the DIGITAL-VIDEO connector to the outside of the case elegantly ?
I was thnking of having the modulator removed from the motherboard to free up that space, but then what DIGITAL-VIDEO connector would fit in there nice and secure ?

Anyone done that ?
Or is anyone making a nice little adapter that would screw/solder in place of the modulator ? (hint hint!) :-)

Thanks!

Several ppl have done that mod. Its a fairly harmless mod and most ppl hate the RF modulator anyway ;-)
This is how I did it:

Vampire installed and DIGITAL-VIDEO out with RF removed:

The cable and the "end-part" are standard components found pretty much everywhere. I got them at a local shop, but I'm sure you can find on Amazon, eBay etc.. You will want to use a thin, slim and flexible DIGITAL-VIDEO cable with a small "head" or it wont fit with the disk drive still in place, it will also be awkward to place internally.

It's not hard to do, but as always, there's a risk you ruin your mobo if you're unlucky (or clumsy ;-). If you're not comfortable with a soldering iron, you should probably ask for help with this part.

So you cannot just unsolder the 6 pins on the bottom and just lift the metal box off the motherboard?  Looks like a lot of work to remove it from your gallery.

You have the benefit of reverse engineering my steps, I hadn't done it before so I started from the top. Not necessarily the best strategy, even if it worked in the end.

This reply is a bit late, here is how I did it: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1847849
Maybe it is still useful for those who have access to a 3d printer.

Not a elegant solution but if someone wants to try out how the flat DIGITAL-VIDEO cable fits out without cutting a hole in the case:

How are you running this out of case?
Kind of looks like my solution for the sd card. Got a cable like this and run it out the trap door. Not great, but for now it works.

By the way sometimes card doesn't get read with my sd solution, have to put card back in vampire slot and redo.

I cheated as i had 2 spare D-Sub port in the rack case which i use for VGA & DIGITAL-VIDEO. I guess you dremel the rear and mount around the floppy drive

Think I'm going mount my hdmi extension cable under gotek floppy ans use RF space for sd card extension, well going test when get new microsd card to see if works first since my extension is 60 cm long
