I know it's early days, but it would be great to see one of these in a more standard format, such as ITX or Micro-ATX, to enable users to customise their setups how they like.

Thanks

+1 for ITX and Micro-ATX option :-)

I wonder if it's possible to add Mini-PCI Express slots, and make them look like Zorro II, or support the bus via drivers, or MSATA looking like IDE. It would help expandability a lot!

The Vampire4 design is final
The Vampire4 will come out as you can see on the above picture.
The Vampire4 comes with many ports and connectors already and also has some expansion ports.

No change will be made on the V4.

Thanks for confirming. I'm sure it will make a lot of people happy, myself included.

Perhaps consider the comments above a feature request for V5... :)

I suppose you will be leading the effort to write drivers to allow PCI-E devices to work on classic Amiga Operating systems?

Expansion? But Vampire is complete package and there is no need to add anything anymore. Well maybe floppy disk connector... :)

I see an USB keyboard attacched to the board, I guess the firmware can emulate an Amiga keyboard with it.

Will it be the same for digital USB joypads? Or will we need a CD32 compatible one?

Thanx

Its so since announcement :-)

But keep the ideas for V6+ OR expansion port options, if possible

Looking forward to V4+

That size is perfect. its small enough to fit inside any Ocs/Esc Amiga....

You make it sound like the size is perfect and it is small enough to fit inside any OCS/ECS Amiga.....

One size fits all.....CPU,graphics,audio,ram,i/o,storage, that's 6 boards on one card...(in terms of classic Amiga expansion)...the Vampire v4 standalone/accelerator card combo is the 1st of its kind. In fact the only board that comes close to this concept is the UltimatePPC card...

awesome stuff, and congrats to all, it must have been a long hard road to get this far! just a little bit further to go :D :D :D

holy moly stunt car racer looks superfast! almost uncontrollable!

could I ask a favour? can you post some AIBB benches to show the difference between actual AGA/ECS amiga chipset performance and the chipset in the FPGA? I would imagine, at the very least; chip ram performance to be through the roof ;)

I see Simo is using 9-pin mouse, is it possible to use usb mouse with standalone, without 9-pin to usb adapter?

Wow! Can you shed some light on how much work remains before it can be shipped? Are you 80% there, or less?

          looks good, where can I find the exact design specs?

          how about floppy support, will I need a real amiga mainboard for that?

          would a barebone amiga reloaded motherboard work as a mainboard for the V4?

          is it true that I can use any USB mouse, USB joystick and USB keyboard on the V4 ? (assuming standard USB HID)

          my goal would be to use it as an NG Amiga, but with brand new hardware (hence reloaded if V4 does not support floppy) as well as the option of reading my old floppies...

          what is the long black connector on top of the board, IDE?

          what are the additional smaller connectors on top?

          what about power for IDE devices? if an ATX supply is needed, then a solution to power the board from ATX would be needed yes?

        That being said.. I'd still buy one for my A500 nomatter what...

        it would solve many problems on my A500,
        since I suspect it would give me:

        * Ethernet

        * OCS, ECS, AGA, SAGA, ?

        * access to store all the various kickstarts and select between them?

        * DIGITAL-VIDEO (no need to bother with the old monitor port anymore)

        * USB keyboard?
      (difficult to find for A500 it seems, usefull for many things.. like ie. using the amiga despite limited desk space..
      I use SUM USB on both my A1200 computers for that same reason... one of them uses a gaming USB keyboard and via Rys MK2 a gaming USB mouse.. looks very nice.. the other uses a USB Amiga 1200 keyboard in a seperate case via the Keyrah board and a logitech mouse using micromys adaptor)

        * IDE (very useful)

        * Very fast processor

        * Amazing amounts of memory

        would need to be able to disable the 68080 for some older games though.. ie. stunt car racer... I sometimes play Stunt Car Racer on 2 Amiga 500's using serial link cable :-)

      just hope my A500's caps will continue to live for a long time... my 1200's caps are starting to burst

  also

  I could see how a microATX or MiniITX version of the board would be usefull, would require some way to use floppy though.. ie. like support for a USB KryoFlux
