Amedia website does work, you need account. Try contacting Relec via contact form, they are fine seller.

You can get in touch with the shop owner at info@relec.ch or xray@relec.ch  I had to do that when I ordered because their webshop is broken.

Ended up e-mailing relic and they have ran out, but I have preordered with Amigastore.eu as they are expecting some stock this month.
So at the very least I know I'm going to get one in the next month or so.
Time to start cleaning and recapping one of my A500's, might try the A500+ first as its got 1MB chip ram until Gold 3 comes out for the V2.

When amigastore.eu gets its stock, will I still have to register it or are they already pre-registered for core updates?
Also are they getting them soon :) ?

Customers no longer need to register, the team handle the registrations now. You may need to wait for an updated core if your registration hasn't been included in the white list of the latest release already or you'll only get monochrome from the digital video. I think the boards are usually supplied with an older core now that doesn't check against a white list.

Gunnar.

How many Vampires have been made so far.

It might help sales if people can see the success of the Vampire by the numbers.

Kudo's to you all in the project.

I don't think so.. I own an Apollo 630 too and it costs more than vampire because they are rare!

i'm not sure its a revenue or cost thing, I think the number of vamps idea was just getting an idea of how big the potential userbase is; as to if it's worth investing in developing, and then "chicken and egg" other people buy a vamp because of the software for it...

however I think the straight up "numbers of vamps made" may not be a true reflection, as you get crazy people like myself with more than one. XD

    Imagined estimates and evolution

V1 - couple hundered at best (handmade by Majsta), ebay sales, only Majastas website
V2 - couple thousand intereestes, 500 - 2000 individual users (made in Bosnia, later moved to a fab - introduction to Amiga shops, 2 websites and 2 forums, major Amiga coverage
V4 and Standalone - I expect x2 to x4 increase (fab and dealers only),expected "noise" outside Amiga community
V5 and beyond? Maybe back to Wall Mart?

Only short lifespan of Amiga users is the limit, something Steven does not think when he laughs so often.

that looks like a pretty good guesstimate, and an "all things being awesome" projection.

The vamp has certainly re-vitalised my amiga interest, but then we've all been carrying the flame from the original 1980's/90's.
And i'll definitely be in the market for *some* v4's.
But noise outside of the standard amiga market? maybe? I know Atari and Mac 68k'ers have an itch to scratch after seeing a vamp in action.
It'll certainly be interesting to see where this goes!

To date sales aren't an indication of market size as there are so few surviving Amiga's to put Vamps' in. It's not until the standalone comes out that we'll have a true idea of how large the market is.

V4+ should be strong enough to run some 68k Linux. Add Amiga, MacOS Classic and a bit of Atari flavour on top, and ability to emulate other consoles and retro machines, standalone could become quite attractive FPGA machine for retros, if marketed right.

That is why quest for nice case and keyboard is on, as well as for operating system legal delivery.

My 2 cents:
You definitivly should sell the apollo core as a standlone "thing"...
As an encrypted IP or as a standalone fpga pico-board with a documented interface, as you wish. But trully, you will get more money to manage devel. And if you want to go for ASIC in the future it will at least double the potentials clients => for that they need to know Apollo core BEFORE ASIC. For example, a tuned vampire for atari is not enough, and you can not handle developing card for every existing 68xxx plateform.

The Vampire V4 is standalone, also they are not making cards for each 68000 based machine only amiga, the rest can be emulated under the standalone and in fact under the current V2's (mac at least).
With the apollo core being code compatible with the 68000 series and the SAGA video supporting planar and chunky display modes it shouldnt be too difficult to emulate the display side of any other 68000 machine, they already have a NeoGeo emulator up and running.

The same challenge applies to all "retro" communities whether they be Atari, Mac, or others. All the machines are slowly rotting, limited supply, increasing prices.

I expect the market to slowly swing to the standalone being the most popular item. Or quickly ;)
