I'm always surprised what people think is important.

There are only few apps that can utilise the capabilities of Vampire, but startup picture is the key :D

There are other ideas too, but never forget people put "PERSONALIZATION" first.

Having a bounty system, be it started with boot pic app, cant be bad.

yeah but that devs deserve hardware thing... everyone would become a dev ;)

anyway, i'll +1 for that fund... even if it is just a donation pot for team pizza. :)

PROVEN ones. Dont forget the beer!

spend it how you like :) - I was going to suggest something a little stronger than beer, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for any alcohol related soldering injuries, or code bugs :D

I understand the request frankly. I myself is interested in. What makes the Vamp so special are such little add-ons, among (ofc) the overall speed. I will think of it guys.

How about some kind of simple boot animation instead of the picture?

I don't presume to understand the complexities of the Vampires internal initialization routine but just thinking if it would be difficult for the vampire to check if say in the "system:" directory there was a boot.jpg file and use that .. if not found, fall back to the default "factory" image.. just pie-in-the-sky dreaming ..

@Eric Gus

Well, for that, just use the startup-sequence and take over the onboard bootpic as soon as you enter in the startup (you could do such thing with the init video code i provided in the other thread).

The Vampire BootPic is meant to work ** without ** disk connected, in the very early boot sequence.

Reading from HDD would also mean that it would not be able to show the boot pic until it finished executing the KS with scsi.device, mounted the HDD and read the pic. By that time, it should be pretty much ready to boot, so you could just put a boot pic as one of the first items in your SS.

Any update on a potential way to customize the boot pic?
If not viable, reverting to a simpler/classier vamp logo for 2.11 would be welcomed by quite a few I think!

Superfrog and BCKid from Silver cores rule :-) Could we get rights for boot screen use only? (Team 17/Core?)

you know what would make an awesome boot screen... the original kickstart hand disk screen with a small vamp logo on the disk!! that would be sweet!!!

When you patch the Kickstart ROM with the 3.1.4 KS ROM it changes to a smaller red Vampire Accelerator logo which is cool. But when it comes to actual goulish vampires, I'm not a fan, hence why I'd like to change it.

Nice idea :-) It seems it would be best to have a flash-able pic area or default load of boot.image of JPEG/GIF from HDD/SD card by the early boot FPGA.

For my own amusement I am going to play with that idea even though it wouldn’t be for boot up pic. An updated graphic for the 21st century.

Since Amiga logo is animated, instead of insert floppy,
could we have Vampire flying away as bat? >:-)

If it was me, I’d keep it neutral, clean & simple. Can be a bit of a vampire twist (red tint, or V logo) applied onto a variation of the kickstart screen.  Quite like the 3D logo in the previous posts too....
But ideally steer away from cute cartoons/manga... it’s fun for a few days but it gets old pretty quick, and when showing around to mates you really get mixed reactions.

Now maybe that’s just me! Hence the request for customization... ;)
