So when will see the Gold upgrade where rgb thru hdmi will be a reality? Two monitors is just not a good fit anymore.

Just asking :)

Don't think that's coming in 2.7.  It is a feature of Gold 3 - likely some months off yet...

Poor me, I have a dual link only monitor, which would require a very expensive active adapter. It also has a high resolution, so it would require pixel doubling too or more. These compound the Amiga and PC sharing the same space.

I just use one of those SCART/DIGITAL-VIDEO to DIGITAL-VIDEO converter box to easily switch between RGB and DIGITAL-VIDEO.

What about an hdmi switch with the scart converter?
Vampire hdmi plugged in one and plug in the hdmi out from comverter in another slot.

Some have auto switching.

Just a bit of concern more than a warning.

I have one of these devices, there's quite a few similar around:

EXTERNAL LINK
I can't remember exactly how this problem occurs as I've not used it for awhile now. If memory serves me leaving the DIGITAL-VIDEO plugged into it with the Amiga turned off and the adaptor getting power causes the Amiga's power light to be faintly on.

I'm not so sure that any damage can be caused to the vampire circuits through this but I wouldn't overly trust these DIGITAL-VIDEO converters... or maybe i'm just paranoid.

Thats why I put everything on a power strip and turn the DIGITAL-VIDEO converter, the Amiga PSU and the monitor on/off at the same time.

Yeah that made me nervous too, Funny enough I just don't plug in the power on the DIGITAL-VIDEO converter, the Vampire appears to be able to Power it on DIGITAL-VIDEO power.

If I interpreted correctly a post on the EAB forum, Gold 3 will not fit in the current fpga vampires. Is this so?

If so, I rellay do need to find a one monitor solution for the future. Anybody remember the Parasite?

I would wait to "hear it directly" before making any conclusions.

It is not set in stone yet what will happen. It may also be the case that you have a choice between two firmwares, one with FPU and another with SAGA if they cannot both fit into the V2 FPGA. Then you can choose the FPU-less version if you are not planning on using that (or can live with the slower femu).

For now I will recommend the OSSC:
EXTERNAL LINK
With this, you can get a great picture on your existing monitor as long as it has a DVI or DIGITAL-VIDEO input. If it only has a single digital input, then put an DIGITAL-VIDEO switcher between. This way, you can switch between Amiga RGB and RTG with the press of a button. Yes, it might not be needed with Vampire machines once Gold 3 comes, but that may take a while and even after it arrives, you can still use the OSSC with other Amigas if you like me have several but are not planning on putting Vampires in all of them. :-)
