| Really, really nice. This means we do have a driver for TCP/IP under EmuTOS/Mint?

| How fast does it work compared to the Workbench one? And what is its JPEG performance etc

| Looks amazing, what resolution is it ? Is there some Network solutions for Amiga available. There are drivers for RTL8019AS and RTL8139 Chipset. Maybe also SMC driver, just some adaption in the memory mapping. If there is something, let me know :)

| Mint is a BSD based Operating System, and there is also i true TCP/IP stack available and also Working (mintnet), there are a lot of Ethernet Card drivers for some EtherNET chips like the RTL8019AS or the newer RTL8139

What I ment is not whether the stack itself is supplied, but when it will support SDNet/other AmigaOS net solutions (A600-A1200 PCMCIA LAN and Wi-Fi, standalone and v4 LAN port) making it usable on Vamp. I do understand it works on Ataris and FireBird with certain RTL cards, but that is not what we have.

On slow x10 core it's 4.0 sec online and 3.8 from cache.

No, it's not a NetBSD derrivate. MiNT is basically a (completely rewritten) multitasking TOS (it started as a GEMDOS layer replacement) which takes over a lot of ideas, api calls and sources from *NIX operating systems, probably also from (NET)BSD-sources. So, yes it has full TCP/IP stack with some important networking services available (you can for example mount nfs shares), loadable file system drivers (ext2, fat32, minix are the popular ones), and a large choice of GNU tools, even a X11 window system is there besides the GEM desktop. But instead of a *nix by default it has no multiuser environement. Originally in early 1990 "MiNT" was the meaning of "MiNT is Not TOS" but when ATARI corp. engaged it's initial developer Eric Smith and MiNT later in the same year the meaning was changed to "MiNT is Now TOS". Before the closure of ATARI they gave out MiNT as open source (FreeMiNT) that other developers could enhance it. Today we have FreeMiNT based SpareMiNT package collection which can be installed quite easy using the EasyMiNT installer.

It depends what MiNT distribtion you install. Most "full" MiNT distributions has multiuser enviroment as default. Crippled MiNT distributions can be more considered as MultiTOS. And here is an interview with Eric about the MiNT. EXTERNAL LINK
